Is this what you have?
EGO II 2200mAh - GS EGO II 2200mAh
You should always keep a backup device. Battery/mod and tank. When one dies, slap it on the charger and use the other one. For what you pay for an eGo these days, you can get a 20W istick. It has a battery indicator and gives you a much larger range of options. Plus you can vape on it while it's plugged in to charge.
$15.36 Authentic Mini iStick 1050mAh Variable Voltage VV APV Box Mod - 3.3-5.0V / aluminum at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
$28.52 Eleaf iStick Styled 2200mAh VV VW APV Box Mod + Mini BVC Clearomizer Kit - 3-5.5V / 2-20W / 2ml / 1.8ohm at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

This site is cheap, but I hear the shipping time sucks. You can look around other places and find good deals too. But I woud definitely get a back up device either way.

Yes that's the one I have. I have back up batteries as well. My question was to see if I can avoid charging before reaching the 10% battery level that the manual suggested but at the same time not emptying totally as I think that damages the battery too.

As for the other models I just prefer the sort of classic shape that's why I chose something with high mAh

You won't hurt them if you charge them early, and may actually extend their service life. Deep discharge can shorten the life. So when the light goes red (or even yellow?), swap and charge.

Over time, you'll get a "feel" for how many mls you can vape without worry about running out of battery. (Which will vary depending on resistance, power setting and personal style.)
