Don't go into panic about 'allergies' causing mouth ulcers (what we call 'canker sores' in the UK). Just do a google search on these and giving up / quitting smoking and you'll see that it is a normal reaction for the body.

Angela, I don't see anything I wrote, or the manner in which I wrote, that could be taken as coming across as panicking.

It may be true about canker sores and quitting smoking, but I've quit smoking before, one time for 6 months, and never got canker sores.

I simply said "I think just about anything that's an ingredient could be a culprit for someone who's allergic to certain foods", which is absolutely true. Canker sores can be caused by a reaction to the immune system if someone should be exposed to a food product or ingredient in which they are allergic to. You can find this same information when doing a google search. Allergies CAN cause canker sores.

Quote:
Allergies to foods and other substances have been postulated as being triggers for canker sore breakouts. Any substance that comes into contact with the person's oral tissues must be considered to be a potential causative agent. If an allergy is suspected the individual might choose to maintain a diary so to help them identify the most likely candidates associated with the causation of their sores. In some cases allergy testing might be considered.

VG could be the problem - I haven't had a canker sore for nearly a year. Just got one couple days ago and its gone by today with constant vaping of PG based liquid.

good to know I'm not the only one. Seems more have probs. with PG...for me I really think it's the VG. Been vaping PG for 2 days and no sores :thumb:

Just FYI, the very first risk factor discussed on that URL is sodium lauryl sulfate found in toothpaste... which I know you've already ruled out even though most flavors of Sensodyne do contain that ingredient. But there's your answer as to "What does toothpaste have to do with this?" Doesn't apply to you but it could be helpful for others who didn't know about it.

Does your train of thought have a caboose?

Turn of phrase that obviously doesn't translate 'across the pond' :) ... didn't intend to infer that anyone was 'literally' panicking.

I have read that nicotine withdrawal may cause a canker sores in those predisposed to getting them. No real proof of that, although despite nicotine content in PG and VG, I think we likely go through withdrawal secondary to poor nicotine absorption from vaping. Another source may be menthol flavoring.

I had 3-4 sores when a started but they have not recurred. I started with menthol and used VG until they healed. I am back to PG with no problems.
