I've really been digging the clapton coils lately and I want to explore out of my comfort zone with my simple coils. I was thinking of using 22g N80 as the core and 28g or 30g kanthal as the outer wrapping. My goal is to have a low resistance since my builds usually consist of a 0.14ohm dual coil with just 22g N80. Anyone have any experience with claptons and do you think this will work in the Dark Horse? The posts are huge so I think it could work. Any recommendations on the outer wire such as higher gauge or lower gauge? Any input would be awesome.

Only tried a Clapton once, but I think I saw general advice to be at least 8 ga thinner on the outer wrap
Ill have to try that next time. I did 28g nichrome wrapped over 22g nichrome and both coils would not fit nicely in the center post and the top cap would not go on without touching the coils even if they were centered and at the right height. So frustrating after it took me so long to get them together!
its a shame the barrel part of the darkhorse is a little to tight for builds like the clapton, is my fav base, if you have other rda's you could try some other barrel's on the DHorse base, i have used the Aireks on it although it doesnt sit all the way down to the bottom of the base... it works
Im gonna do it on my Haze rda. One of the claptons that I built was still in good condition and I threw it in the Haze to see if it works and it does! Now working on my second clapton... I wanna see what all the hype is about haha.
well when you get bored of the clapton you have the fused clapton and you have the juggernaut coil but when you go from these back to a clapton it tastes normal hahahaa- Status
