I just accidentally dropped a 3000mah 18650 into a dish in the kitchen sink, which had enough water in it for the battery to totally submerge. I quickly grabbed it & put it outside in the back yard. Nothing happened yet. Now what?? Time for a new battery?
I can understand the concern being sometimes water can conduct electricity. If there was an issue, the water bridging both the positive and the negative ends together to create a dead short, the water would have begun to boil as the battery literally would have cooked itself to death. At the present moment if the battery hasn't either vented (spewed open at the top cap) or gone into thermal runaway at this moment, the internals are just fine. As suggested let it sit in a warm environment or air conditioned environment (ac pulls moisture out of the air into condensate) for a few days to let it dry properly, if you have spare battery wraps for it, after it dries would be the time to re-wrap it, letting it dry without the wrap on.
Presently the only trouble the battery will have is corrosion in between the battery housing and the battery wrap if you don't address the battery wrap issue, the battery internals are still in good working order and can be used after the battery casing has dried properly.
Battery wraps and positive wafer insulators can be bought for like 10/$1 USD for the wraps and maybe $0.50 for a sheet of like 6 or 8 positive wafer insulators, plus shipping, I always add a set of each to my battery orders from Illumn.com and Liionwholesale.com for a battery order, after that you just need a nice hot hair dryer to shrink the wraps onto the battery.
