I drilled out the dual holes in mine to about 2.2mm, so not much bigger than stock. I did it in a drill press and drilled through the two parts at the same time. How big are you planing to go?
You sure can. I've heard some people getting their top cap and AFC stuck together when they drill both together (not specific to the trident). So you might want to drill them separately.
I found the 2.2 mm holes good for dual coils at 0.5 - 0.6 ohms. At 3 mm I would expect a loss of flavor in that resistance range and I would have to go down to around 0.3 ohms if not lower.

That's a good point player one. I'm a machinist and keep my drills really sharp which means they don't make much of a burr when they pass through a part. I also know to go slow when passing through. Plus I use a drill press at the right speed for the drill bit.
Get any of this too wrong and the burr between the parts will make it hard to separate them.
My preferred resistance is usually .3 so the 3mm would be perfect hopefully. And thanks for the tip I'll be sure to drill them separately, hell thanks to both of you guys : ).
