I would like to know the difference between the Kanger MT3S / T3S heating coil and the Kanger Evod heating coil.
The pictures showing the 2 coils seem to be identical.

Kanger MT3S heating coil
Kanger Protank heating coil

What is the physical difference between the 2 coils?

I would like to use purchase a Kanger MT3S but I really do not want have to buy separate coils for it.

And if they are different why would they do this, when one coil could serve for both?

I rebuilt enough of both the T3S and Protank/Evod coil heads to remember them. The bottom metal flange above the threads is just slightly narrower on the T3S head compared to the Protank/Evod coil head being a bit wider, we are talking just a fraction of a millimeter difference in diameter. You can use the T3S head in all 3 tanks, but can not use the Protank/Evod head in the T3S, it just won't fit. Other than that, the coils inside and how they are assembled are identical.

^^^ That. The metal "washer" just below the wick is a smaller diameter on the T3s/MT3s coil than on a PT/EVOD coil. There is a corresponding fitting on the respective bases that that washer fits down into. If you screw a PT/EVOD coil onto (not into...) a T3s base that washer on the coil will ride on top of the flange it is supposed to be seated down into. Then you have leaking and flooding and battery contact problems.

Having used both I'd say if you had to choose, go with the MT3S as they're basically just an evod that holds more juice. But if you're already using an evod then you should really look at a glass protank 2, that uses evod coils and performed better IMO. Or just go with a protank 3 and upgrade. But then if you're going to do that you might as well buy a subtank mini, since it actually will take a protank 3 coil plus all the fancy sub ohm ones it normally takes. But see now I'm spending your money. lol.
Honestly though, I think you'd be happier with a protank 2 or mini protank 2 than either the evod or MTS.

I agree. The MT3 was dreadful. The MT3S was only a little better. The T3S was the most reliable.
None were as good as the mini Protank 1 or 2.
I personally found the 'Protank 3' models very poor on the vapor unless you have VV/VW power.
