I know that my Revenger has an option to take a hit on hard, medium or soft. Even though I have been vaping for quite some time I have never messed with these particular settings. What happens if I set my device on hard as opposed to medium or soft? Can these settings help with ramp up time? I'm very interested in how people use this setting and how it possibly affects my batteries in any way.

VW-HIGH mode : The kit provides a higher start watt in the first few seconds to bring you a stronger hit and wonderful vaping experience.

VW-NORMAL mode (default): The kit provides set watts during vaping. Vapers can enjoy pure vaping here.

VW-SOFT mode: Contrary to VW-HIGH, SOFT mode provides a lower start watt.

I'm not sure but I believe it pulls more power in the 1st part of your vape. If so that may help with ramp up time or heating thick coils like fused Claptons. The only way to be sure is to try it;)

It's ramp up, how long it'll take to fire your coil at a certain setting. Soft's usually slower, if you want a longer deeper inhale. Hard's faster, for quicker shorter pulls. But, any mod can be like that - just raise or lower your wattage..

its not simply raising or lowering wattage. even in your own statement its ramp. meaning how fast or slow to reach the desired wattage setting.

It's kind of both. When I was using thicker wires the hard came in handy, though I didn't care for the first couple of seconds. Now that I use thinner wires up/down wattage works just fine and hits are more pleasant.

I just tried the hard setting and I have to say that on my 8 wrap fused claptons it did well with the ramp up. But I'm not so satisfied because I like to chain vape. When the coil is already hot I have no need to have the hard setting. Besides I feel more comfortable with my vape experience reflect my wattage I'm on currently and hard just seems kinda weird. I think I'm gonna stick with the normal setting. At least for now.

In General these settings adjust the initial ramp up power

Soft - Soft or gentle ramp up, a very slow gradual ramp up compared to normal, would be useful if you take long drags or are using TC mode, for a sit back gentle relaxing long draw vape without choking yourself out
Normal - Standard output, what watts are set the mod fires at those watts the whole time the power is supplied
Hard - Hard is opposite of soft, is more useful to your power cloud chasers, I use one mod, an Evic VTC Mini /w 3rd party firmware (Arctic Fox firmware), that I use for MTL tanks, I have it set to ramp up hard at 10watts for 2 seconds, then drop down to my screen set watts of 8watts, mods with a soft, normal, and hard profiles, the hard profile follows about this same concept here I have manually done in my VTC Mini, a % extra above set watts, burst up to those watts in a set amount of time, then ramp down to set watts to maintain coil temp and power output, so you can see where it is more popular to be in this mode for a cloud chaser compared to a MTL user.

That doesnt make it both. If your mod has no ramp options you cannot control how fast it reaches the wattage you selected. You are at the mercy of voltage drop to 510 and build of topper. While you may be able to adjust your wattage up or down to find a desired vape for your build there is no curve how you get there. If hard and soft were the same as normal mode then companies wouldnt invest in the ramp feature because it would be pointless.

I'm good, Halloween was fun and memorable. How was yours? :)

That is true. But if you want to experience a faster ramp up with a mod without that setting, you can just raise the wattage.

No arguments. just informative statements.

Always :)

I don't know about other mods, but on my SMOK G150, it changes voltage (and amperage) and keeps watts the same. I am guessing more volts/amp increases ramp up time. But I agree that one could get the same effect by just increasing wattage.

So then one can say that setting it on high does strain the battery to some degree more than normal I guess.

It totally pulls more amps and volts.

There's also a way to adjust ohm settings to change voltage. Try increasing the ohms your mod "thinks" it has - *slightly.*

Now decrease wattage.

Eventually you will get to a point where you are running higher voltage but lower wattage/amperage.

Whether this saves battery life is a question that likely relates to characteristics of lion batteries.
