New to vaping since my knee surgery on Dec. 5th (no way that I could handle my stairs to go out and smoke after that), so the more I read about e-cigs the more confused I'm quickly becoming. I'm of the 'love my cig-a-like system' variety, but am quickly learning that even those have different generic battery names and threading.

As my searches seem to turn up everything but what I'm actually looking for, is there a site or post somewhere that indicates which manufacturers' batteries/systems are what type? A lot of manufacturers' websites don't differentiate what type of battery their kits use (especially the cig-a-like versions), so it's hard for me to determine what I have.

For references sake, my introduction to vaping was the Krave 301 Starter Kit (simple & cheap, but only available in tobacco or menthol flavors) and I just started using Apollo's Extreme Kit (which I much prefer in this category, as they have more flavors to choose from & carry refillable cartomizers). Although they both appear very similar and both have male connectors, their diameter and threads look different. Does this make them each a different battery type or different versions of the same type of battery?

I ask this because my Krave batteries still work, but I will probably never buy another Krave cartridge ever again, so I'm hoping to use another manufacturer's cartomizers with those batteries.

Many thanks!

Debbie

P.S. Aside from a bummed cigarette here & there in the beginning, I have been analog free since the day of my surgery and I am NEVER GOING BACK! :D

APOLLO Extreme kit threading .......Model: DSE906 (compatible with DSE901 and KR808D-1 threading) The kit also comes with a 510 adapter. The crave uses a 301 connector...... You can pick up a 301 to 510 and a 510 to 510 adapter for it from here http://www.heaven-gifts.com/product-205.html and use the cartos from apollo or basically any 510 connector type cartos :D

I found this on wiki - can't make head nor tails of it but maybe it will help in someway:
Brand and Model Compatibility Chart - E-Cigarette Wiki

You're not alone. Sadly I think that's going to confuse the issue, but hey ya never know :)

I will add my little primer, but perhaps that doesn't give enough info re: your question.

I just stick with a 510 as it's pretty much standard and gives you the most connection versatility. You can also buy adapters if you are totally in love with your current gear.

Covert... I love you!!! How the heck did you figure all that out? THANK YOU!

I know that the 510 adapter is an available accessory from Apollo (one didn't come with my kit), so I would need to get a 510 adapter and a 301 to 510 adapter in order to utilize my Krave batteries then? Yay, my e-cig could also double as a batton!

Thanks again!

I actually did find (and read) your post. ;) And, you're right, it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. Once I figured out what types I had, I planned to go back to that later.

It's looking like getting a 510 adapter is the way to go anyway... That is if I don't tire of the cig-a-likes and want to go all hardcore. :D

Many thanks!

Rather than spending the extra money in buying all those adapters for the Krave batteries to work with Apollos Extreme, I've decided that it would probably be better to just get adapters for that (301) and Apollo's Extreme battery (901) to convert both to a 510, since Gr8Scott advised that it's pretty standard. This will give me more versatility to get the most of these batteries until they die... Besides, I'll have the Superior eGo Kit, which is a 510, that I just ordered to complete the compatibility factor all the way around. :D

This forum is DANGEROUS!!!

Many thanks again, guys!

Hi Debbie and welcome to ECF.

Different delivery systems:- note bolded Atty, Carto, etc is the abbreviated form

Atomizer/ Atty- an element on to which 3-4 drops of juice is dripped- usually used for testing new juices because Attys are easy to clean. There are some diehard Atty users because it’s the best vape possible but very time consuming.

Cartridge/ Cart- a container with sponge (filled with juice) that is used with the Atty- juice drips on to Atty from filled cart and is vaporized- older outdated first “tank” system and prone to leaks unless the user is willing to buy extra seals and “fiddle” with them.

Cartomizer/ Carto- metal tube with stuffing and element. Holds anywhere form 1- 4 ml of juice. Carto is fully saturated and must be occasionally refilled when juice runs out. My Cartos last 1-2 weeks. Best Cartomizer I’ve found is the Smok Tech XL 1.7 single coil. Boge 2.0 ohm cartos will give a cooler vape. Always use single coil cartos with 3.3- 3.7 PVs for the best vape.

Carto+Tank- a Carto with a hole punched in it. Carto is than placed in a glass, metal or plastic tank which is filled with juice- juice saturates Carto by way of hole in Carto. My Cartos with a tank last, before tight draw occurs: light juices- 80-90 ml. dark juices- 50-60 ml.

Clearomizer (includes the Stardust and the Vivi Nova Tank)- a plastic or metal tank with a wick and element. Contains NO stuffing. The rebuildable clearos come with heads (coil+ wick) that can be cheaply and easily replaced. When the head burns out simply unscrew the old head out and screw in new head- takes 10 secs. My Vivi Nova heads are lasting about 4 weeks BUT I wash the heads every few days. I've found the Vivi Nova to give the best draw.

Juice Components
Flavoring usually about 15%- could be higher or lower depending on the flavor used.
PG enhances flavor, TH and lung hit- water like
VG= vapor and can mute flavor- thick
Nicotine- TH, lung hit and our need for nicotine. The MOST important ingredient in regards to TH and lung hit.
Standards in the industry are 80/ 20 or 70/ 30 PG/ VG.

Battery Info
100 mah= 1 hour normal vaping before requiring recharge. Understand if you are using a higher voltage via a variable voltage PV the batteries will drain quicker. NEVER over tighten an accessory to the battery as the battery post may be pushed down. This issue can be fixed but the problem will worsen until the battery post is damaged beyond repair….only finger tight.

Different PVs. There are higher mods out there but too many to list

Cig sized: Volt, Bloog, Smoov- cig sized and battery life is an issue- less common 808 threading/ connection.
Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Smokeless Image Electronic Cigarettes - The Future is in your hands Starter Kits from $20- $95. Comes in auto and manual. I chose Smokeless Image as they sell quality products, prolly have the best Customer Service within the industry and have a large and loyal following.

eGo Class:
JoyTech eGo fires @ 3.3 volts, SmokTech eGo fires @ 3.7 volts and the Kgo fires @ 3.7 volts- come in 650, 900 or 1100 mah depending on the manufacturer- most popular 510 threading/ connection and are manual. I own a Kgo and I LOVE it. Have used the JoyTech eGo and prefer the Kgo because of the higher voltage.
eGo Starter Kit cost anywhere from $50- $80.
Kgo starter kit costs about $40-$50:
KGO kit1100mAh by SLB
or
http://www.hoosierecig.com/V2-KGO-Kit-1100mAh_p_367.html

Mini Variable Volt PV: 510 threading/ connection. Manual Batteries.
Kgo VV- only comes in 650 mah- I own it and find battery life a problem and HATE the button. Original button failed in the first 2 weeks and manufacturer, through the vendor, gave everyone 2 replacement buttons.

Twist comes in 650, 900 and 1000 mah. Dial very narrow/ smooth and not easy to turn. Voltage numbers very hard to read/ invisible. Button occasionally sticks.

Vision Spinner comes in 400, 650, 900, 1100 and 1300 mah. Wide knurled voltage dial easy to turn and easy to read voltage markings. 1300 mah Spinner is the same size as 1000 Twist.
Both variable voltage PVs above fire from 3.3-4.8 volts.
I owned the Twists and now use them as backups because the dial was hard to turn and I could not clearly see the voltage markings.
1300 Vision Spinner- 113mm or ~4.4 inches long; 16MM WIDE, 2MM WIDER THAN A STANDARD EGO
1100 Vision Spinner- 119mm or ~4.75 inches long
1000 Twist- Length 120mm(4.75")/Diameter 14mm

Advantage of the VV- when stressed and need a stronger hit I can easily and quickly dial up the voltage. For an all day vape I can lower it to 3.7-4.0. Also some flavors really shine at high voltage while others at a lower voltage.
Stealth Mini Pvs- fire at 3.7 volts
eGo 510 Mini- manual 400 mah- battery costs $13- Length- 60 mm
SmokTech eGo 510 Mini- manual- 350 mah- battery costs $11- $13- Length- 60 mm
eGo 808 Mini- manual- 400 mah- nattery costs $11- $13- Length- 60 mm
SD Keyring 510- auto- 300 mah- battery costs $20. Length- 44 mm
I own the SD and use it for concerts. With moderate vaping on a standard carto I get about 4 hrs. The eGo has a lit button so it’s really not a 100% stealth PV but has the manual button, a larger batt capacity and is more reasonably priced.
Pass Through PVs
These generally work well for those working on a PC and can be plugged directly into the PC usb port or an outlet via a wall adapter. You can use them while they’re being charged. Be aware with older PCs some usb ports cannot handle the PV and serious damage could occur- fried MB and/ or usb port. Generally rear PC ports are safer.

Wow, thanks, Vapoor eyes er! Your posts contain a tremendous amount of information that I'll definitely bookmark to refer to later.

BTW, on a side note, for some reason I held onto my spent Krave cartridges (guess in case I became really desperate along the way, LOL!), and I just discovered how easy they are to add some more juice to. The cartridge looked sealed to the naked eye, but a gentle pry with a paperclip took the mouth piece plug right out... :p

Thank God, because my Apollo Extreme Kit's USB charger turned out to be DOA, in addition to one of the batteries. Customer Service is shipping me replacements, however, the other battery just gave out after over 24hrs of use. :-o (Pretty impressive, I'd say.)

I guess you could say that I'm REALLY glad that I still have this crappy Krave kit then, huh? :smokie:

Have a great weekend, guys!

You're welcome. Some of it might be out of date slightly. I also keep everything cuz you never know when the need will arise either for myself or a friend.
Have a great weekend.
