I hope you feel better soon and I'm glad you are going to the doctor. I had my first head cold without a bronchial issue a few weeks ago, and it was a lovely feeling.... Good luck!

Anna
Many thanks! I'm going to put a call in today. I've got a busy weekend ahead of me, I want to feel better!

Since you just joined ECF in August, I assume that you are fairly new to vaping. If so you are probably due to start having the tar buildup in your lungs from years of smoking start to break up and get coughed out. That said, long term coughing coming off of a cold also typically points to bronchitis, so I definitely agree a trip to the doc is in order.
I'm actually not new to vaping, I'm an old hand. I quit smoking March 22, 2013, and started vaping. Ive found that you learn something new everyday though. I just recently joined here, it's true, but I'm not a new vaper . I really do like this forum, the first one i joined, everyone was a bunch of jerks. They didn't really want to help people, they were vape snobs. I appreciate this site even more after getting treated like crap there.

See that's what happens when I assume I guess. Well welcome to the site and hope you feel better.

Hello Guys,

I'm vaping for more than 2 months now and I enjoyed it a lot.

As a starter, I face some problems/difficulties and solve it with time and tuning the mod setting time to time. Now, having another problem, which I can't identify the reason.

After around 10 minutes of vaping I start coughing. It stops, if I drink a few sips of water, though its new to me. And, of course, it's giving me tension. What to do now?

My current e-juice spec: VG 80, PG 20, Nic 6mg
Using Vaporesso Target Pro and vaping on 27.5W (Coil .5)

Thanks in advance.

Well first of all you should take a break from vaping, see if it changes anything. THEN you can try to change a few things like power, e-liquid, the actual e-cigarette.
I assume you're not doing this, but do not vape without sufficient liquid in the container.

Why Does That Sound So Familiar I Have To Wonder?! Hmmm... Been There Done That Before It Seems! :D The Last Carton was bought in the same month while not all Lighting Up came about. I went a full month of Vaping Only before getting 5 loose packs with the first light up gagging me as I had seen before when not smoking and then went back usually from gaps in work periods! After testing a month of vaping only I found that once those half carton of loose packs would be gone for good someone close took seriously ill only two months later and... I picked four more loose packs at the end of June, beginning of July 2013 and once those were gone NOTHING SINCE! The coughing however came up after the "Tightness In The Lungs" was being seen after a few years of Vaping had taken place and why my previous post mentioned someone else who had also reported coughing spells. WHY? You are still INHALING SOMETHING FOREIGN into your lungs! This is the Body's Own Natural Defensive Actions taking place regardless of HOW SAFE IT IS YOUR BODY SAYS OTHERWISE! It Only Is Able To See One Task Only... PROTECT!!! Your body's own defense mechanism is going to work in REJECTING ALL FOREIGN SUBSTANCES PERIOD!

I called my doc on Friday, and they sent me in an antibiotic. Hopefully it'll clear this up pretty quickly. I'm sick and dang tired of being sick! It is making me slow down on the vaping front, so that's the only perk. I slept half the day today because I've been so exhausted the past couple of days. I'm still tired even though I slept so much today. Anyway, I've got to hit the sack, I've got to get my son up at the crack of dawn tomorrow morning. Night all!

I just bought a new 60w Eleaf because I’ve been smoking since I was 10 so it’s been almost impossible to quit. I tried Blu and several other e-cigs, and was never successful simply because of the coughing and it even made me sick, but I’ve finally found the answer.

I had never seen anyone mention this. I often hear “oh, hold it in your mouth.” Which to me is painfully obvious.

I simply draw the vapor into my mouth and instead of inhaling thru my mouth I shut my mouth and gently breathe through my nose. Now for the first time not only did I not cough in the slightest, but I got a strong nicotine buzz from my first actual vape hit(considering I’ve owned pens and such in the past and could never really feel it because of the fact that I could barely inhale.)
I really hope this helps someone. I was about to sell mine.

I went thru the same thing. Some of the first cigalikes and pens i tried made me cough so much i thought they were useless. Id see other people happily vaping and clouding with no obvious discomfort and wonder why i would cough my guts out every time i tried it. Fastfoward several years later, i decided to give it another go. Went to a vape store, sampled many different flavors and walked out with an eleaf 20w istick and a mtl tank. And coughed all the way out the door, lol. I learned to start with smaller hits and eventually got the hang of it. Within a month or so i was ready to step it up and went subohm. Big flavor and soon enough big clouds. I didnt start out even caring about clouds, it just became a natural progression i reckon. Today, im using a tfv12 king and a tfv8 plus various rda's ive started collecting. Wattage varies with whatever im using but rarely go over 160. And ya wanna know something? Every once in a while, a dry hit or even a super large hit and im coughing muh guts out, lol. Its all part of it, so vape on friends, and enjoy.
