Hi, I'm new to vaping ,been using the Topbox mini for 4 days now. Started with Ni 200 coil in TC at first, and really enjoyed the taste of tribeca by Halo(0mg) at 400F. Wanted to try out the other coils as well, so I switched to the clapton coil last night. Then I noticed the Ni200 coil have slightly burnt(It looked brown), but I didn't realize it until I switched it out, It tasted normal tho. Thus, i didn't bother looking into it.

Thereafter, I've been vaping with the clapton coil since last night,at 40~45W and only used ~3ml the whole day. Came home and checked out the coil. Again, it turned slightly brown. Despite the juice turned a little darker color(caramelize), the taste's just fine, no burnt taste at all.

So, to my question..

1) Is it normal that the coil turned in to burnt-like color after only a day of use(Or 3 days for my NI200)?If not, how do I avoid it? I've primed the coil, but I started at 40W right away(Ni200 at 400F) instead of increasing the power/temp a bit at a time, Maybe this is the reason?

2) Since the taste is just fine, I guess I should be fine without having to change the coil, right? At least, not until I get those burnt tastes or lack of flavour?

3) My juice started caramelizing once the juice level is almost on top of the holes of the coil. Is that normal too?

Thank you!

Color is not an issue.

I build and have had wicks turn almost black looking. I Rinsethen when changing and they wash right out, back to white.

For replaceable heads, time to change is when Flavor falls off. Often, slightly increasing wattage will get a few more days out if an older coil head.

  1. Yes; you don't - almost any juice will discolor the coil and make a buildup on it; no, 400F @ 40W is fine.
  2. Yes. Change the coil when the flavor goes "off".
  3. Yes. The liquid will pick up discoloration from the wick into the tank, and the heat level gets higher as the liquid level drops which can oxidize the liquid.
