Hey guys I really need some help. I made a mix today of Pink Lemonade 80vg/20pg and the juice came out really cloudy! When It’s in my tank it starts to separate in to two layers. The flavouring is pg based and I used nicotine that’s vg based but I’m not sure if that’s what caused it. Any info would really help as the flavouring is amazing, I’m just unsure if it’s safe to vape or not.

PG and VG mix and usually stay mixed. Must be something else going on there. Did you shake it well? Usually need to shake it a few times to mix well and mixes better if either warmed a little or done over a couple of days with shaking once a day.
I had the bottles sitting in warm water and shook them for awhile but it didn’t improve the cloudiness...

What exact flavorings did you use to make it (names of each and brands)? Cloudiness can be caused by the order you added your flavorings while making your DIY eliquid...if certain ones are used in the recipe. You aren't the first, and won't be the last, to get a cloudy eliquid as the result of it.

By the way, since your post is about DIY eliquid, and not store-bought already made...it should be in the DIY Eliquid sub-forum. Don't be surprised if a mod moves it there.

Yes, more information is needed. It's definitely probably not the PG/VG mix that is causing it (unless one of those ingredients was contaminated) and how does it vape? I'm not sure what is causing the cloudiness but it might be good to list all your flavorings and if you can remember, how you added them.... Best of luck.

I was wondering about the flavoring brand and name, too. Maybe there's a true Lemon ingredient in in the flavoring. Lemon oil and water create a cloudiness when the lemon is added. You can sometimes see it in a glass of tea as you squeeze the lemon into it.

I had used Pink Lemonade from Flavou West(pg) and the only other thing I had used was nicotine and vg

Seriously, some flavors are just cloudy in nature. That is just how some of them come out. You can search this subforum where some claimed adding ingredients in a certain order would help make juices come out clearer but I don't know that any conclusions were drawn. But ultimately I wouldn't worry about it, like I said before; some are clear, some are amber and some appear cloudy. As long as they taste good, no worries.

I know you know this JC but for the OP ......

I had this happen to me a few years ago and it was making me crazy. Most of the time my mixes ended up crystal clear but once in a while something I had mixed numerous times would end up cloudy. I never knew when it was going to happen. It turns out it was the way I was doing it that caused the problem.

I got the cloudy mix when I didn't shake to blend the ingredients before adding the next one. If add flavorings, the nic and then the VG without shaking between additions I ended up with a cloudy mix.

Since I started mixing the ingredients between additions I've not had a single cloudy mix. Now I add the flavors, cap the bottle and shake to mix. (not necessary if one was making a single flavor mix) Then add the nic (my nic is 100%pg), cap again and shake to mix. Then I add the needed amount of VG. Shake the bottle well.

I know there are those that won't believe what I am saying and that's OK. I just know that I've not ended up with a single bottle of cloudy e-liquid since I started paying attention to the way I add ingredients.

If a Flavored e-Liquid Separates after shaking, that is a pretty Good Sign that one or more of the Flavorings you used contain Oils or are Oil Based.

I'm Not a proponent of vaping e-Liquids that contain Oil Based or Oil Containing Flavorings.

The only time I get cloudy eliquid is on flavors that sat in the mailbox a touch too long and have gone bad from the heat.

If cloudy and at least seems to taste alright (yes, taste test it..) it should just need time.
If it stays cloudy and the taste is off.. toss.
