Closing pin loose on my Vaporesso NRG tank

I have searched and searched for someone that has fixed the top swivel lid. My pin came loose after a bad drop. Ouch. I need to know if it can be fixed or if I’m totally waisting time! This is the reason my tank leaks and I am really surprised not a lot of people realize that it is a potential culprit as to why their tank leaks. It is all about the seal.

I really hope someone out there will save me!

Hi and welcome! It's really hard to tell from the photo but us the top of the tank, at about two o'clock from the rubber fill gasket all dented in? If it is that's why it's leaking. If it's not dented it still looks sorta weird.

I assure you there are no dents. Everything is perfect except the pin wiggles around. I think it’s not supposed to wiggle at all. It’s not typical for most people to take the swivel off of the top part of your tank. I only did so I could attempt to repair it. The tank works as it should. It’s only problem is the top does not close tight enough to make it an airtight seal

The extra photo is a little clearer. If that pin won't stay in place and the swivel cap won't stay locked it's pretty much toast. One of the problems with those types of swivel or sliding top caps is if they break you're stuck, as to my knowledge you can't just buy a replacement.

I would say glad the glass didn't break with the fall, but that might have been a better outcome as those are easy to find replacements for.

Yes unfortunately those swivel tops can be hard to fix once they're loose. How old is the tank, is it still under warranty? If you didn't drop it supremely hard, well if it's under warranty I guess you could argue your case as far as whether it's the drop or the design (I'm not gonna argue your case, I had a hard enough time deciding whether I would disclose upfront or when asked if water damage had occurred when my kid dropped his cellphone in the toilet, but I figured well, if there is water damage surely they will figure it out, but they never did). So, IDK it might be worth contacting the vendor or supplier to see if they'll replace it but other than that, I don't have much to offer.

Good luck. Yeah, even when I drop my glass tanks and they shatter Eskie is right in some ways that is a much easier "fix".

The pin is press fitted and not suppose to be disassembled, or in your case, dropped. When assembled, the white rubber gasket applies pressure on the top plate keeping it from swinging open. The pin, does not move but acts like an axle. I’ve taken a picture to give you a better understanding. To remove the vanity plate, unscrew clockwise with the top of the plate facing you.

Welcome and glad you joined.
The above suggestions may be correct, however:
Could look up Loctite 609 and purchase a bottle and apply to pin as directed.
Could take the tank to a local machine shop, smile and ask if they can apply some of their 609 or fix it in some other manor. It helps to phone them first to see if they have a "free" 5 minutes.
Could fill in your location, it may help you in obtaining location specific information to your question(s).
On the top right hand corner of this post you will find --"your name" next to "Inbox and Alerts"
Place the mouse pointer on your name. You will get a drop down and on the left hand side of this drop down you will find "Personal Details". Click Personal Details.
In Personal Details, in middle of screen in gray, you will find "Location" Could fill that box line in.

I am not familiar with your tank so I can't offer any recommendations. However, I did want to say hi and welcome to the forum.

While I am late to the show here, I wanted to point out that the top vanity plate as you’ve termed it is not removable from all NRG tanks.

I had 6, now 5 because I tried to remove one for cleaning. Used the same process that I had used on others, which is/was to, simply unscrew it, noting it has left had threads. Assumed it had dried juice causing it to stick. After repeated attempts with rubber jar lid grips and the like I used visegrips and channel locks with rubber in between the tools of destruction and the vanity plate. Too much slippage. Got rid of the rubber, cranked down the visegrips now I have 5 NRG tanks and some spare parts. Of the remaining 5 only 4 have removable vanity plates.

Another oddity between the NRG tanks is the drip tip configuration some are 510 and others are 810 and the 810 comes in 2 styles an open bore at the base and a base base with a anti spit back screen.
