The air holes are then tiny holes on the side of the 510 connection. They may be clogged up. You could try poking them out with a needle/paperclip or try hand drilling them out with a tiny drill bit. It may help, or it may not. I've had cartos I thought were ruined, but they just had some pocket lint wrapped around the threads clogging up the air flow.

Two possible causes from my experience. First, old juice may be clogging up the bottom, reducing your draw. Sometimes overfilling and blowing it out will get the older juice out for the most part and help with draw. Second, the center hole/tube may be constricted. If you can't see light through it, try using a thin paper clip or needle, carefully pushing up from the battery end, to open it.

If the hole's clear with visible light, then a real cleaning may work. In a nutshell, fill with vodka and blow out a couple times until it's clear, then do the same with very hot water. Drying methods vary, and dense filler will take a day or two. My quick way is to set it battery end down on top of a light bulb for 15-30 min.

If your juice is thick, 50%vg or more or dark with sediment, cleaning will buy you time but not much. Thin clear juices give me the most life. Good luck getting more time out of it!

If you are Very Careful, you can push a Straighten Out Paper Clip thru the Batter End until it come out of the Mouth Piece. The Roll the Carto on the Paper Clip like a Bread Roller.

The Key Words are “Very Careful”.

If you feel resistance it means that the Paper Clip is Hung Up on the Coil Wire. So Don’t Force it.

Thanks all.... I would just throw them away but two of the clogged ones are only a few days old. I did check the tiny airholes and used a needle to clean them out. Fixed one....no love on the other. But that one is clogged with juice at the bottom (cant blow it out tho...so must be old juice). Will try the paper clip....

Thanks again all.

There is no really good method to clearing out the center tube that I know of, however, you can get a guitar string, next to smallest one, fifth string on the guitar, and use that to push through the center hole. Do this carefully or you can kill the cartomizer all together. Some liquids clog easier than others. Some believe it's a certain ingredient that's in the liquid, others say it's only dark liquids, some say it's liquid with higher VG ratio, i really don't know which one if any are correct, I know what's worked best for me, using a tank and slotting or punching my carts.

hey all,

A carto I have been using on an off for a week (less than 2 hrs total on Carto) seems to be having issues. It started getting harder and harder to draw on it, and now is practically plugged up (center hole is 1/4 the diameter it should be).

Is there any way to fix this, or is the Carto dead?

I had this issue with a 100% VG juice in 2 different cartos. To solve that I used the tweezers to clean the 2 little holes in the thread connection.

Interesting that I'd never had this issue with PG juices.

It may be what everyone above me has posted but it may also be a bad batch of cartos that you bought. I had this happen with Boge about 6 months ago. It was with just one box. As soon as I filled it and used it for an hour, the tube collapsed. I tried all the above and nothing worked. All 5 in the box did it. I haven't encountered that problem again and don't want to. It was too frustrating trying to figure it out. I finally took them apart and saw what was going on. I hope this isn't the case with yours.
