Has anyone else experienced an accidental high when walking into a room full of cleaning products after vaping?

I walked into a room that had just been steam-cleaned (rug) and got an instant and distinct "high". I left the room immediately, got fresh air and I was fine. Walked back in, got high again and left for a few hours until the rug was dry. I can't say for certain that it was the rug cleaning because the kitchen also had some bleach-type cleaning products out for use.

It was the weirdest thing and totally unexpected. I thought I browsed by something a few weeks ago about vaping and cleaning chemicals but i can't find it now. Is there any info on this? Has anyone else experienced strange reactions to chemicals since they've started vaping?

I did some research on this when I first started vaping. There are some chemicals that are in cigarettes that you are no longer getting, and some of those chemicals also happen to be in various cleaning products. Depending on how long it's been since you've smoked, you can experience heightened cravings that can be similarly disorienting. I can't remember what thread it was, sorry. There is a lot of different chemicals that can trigger withdrawal/craving symptoms.

Hi, thanks. Sorry, but I really have no idea what was used. Whatever is in a home steam cleaner liquid? the kitchen stuff was just your regular soft scrub and bleach based cleaners, soap, that kind of thing.

I can find out exactly though and get back to you. i don't use a lot of chemical based cleaners in my own home I guess i thought this was something that others have experienced before? It was so odd, the high was so odd. Centered in my forehead, like a window had opened up there and it was "clear and breezy" lol. Not unpleasant, just really strong and disorienting and unexpected.

I recently switched from %100 PG to a mix of PG/GV.

I have been tobacco free since 1/11/11
Do you have a list of chemicals that trigger cravings? i would like to avoid those if at all possible. I am an accidental quitter and am loving being smoke-free and want to remain so. I have had only a couple of cravings and they weren't much of anything, certainly nothing like when I quit smoking without vaping.

I didn't save a list. Unfortunately, I'm not one of the most organized people in the world, LOL. About that though, I wouldn't worry too much about it . . . you'll mainly just have to avoid things like that for a little while. The only real way to find out what will trigger you is to accidentally come across it. There are thousands of chemicals in cigarettes, so you'd have to avoid pretty much everything to "be safe" and avoid all of the potential triggers. Everybody's bodies are different, so what affects you might not affect me.

One chemical that is very common is ammonia. Might not cause a trigger for you though. I think the thread that made me delve into it was about Pine Sol. Pine Sol has Alkyl alcohol ethoxylates, and the only alkyl we are getting from vaping is the nicotine . . . there are others that are missing, so this alkyl chain in the Pine Sol could potentially awaken the cravings for some. Again though, don't worry about it too much . . . the issues will most likely subside. If you experience the same problem with the same product for an extended period of time, I would talk to your doctor just to see if there is some sort of allergy, etc.

Thank you FreakieStyle,

Everything is still so new to me and that contact high was so unexpected. Honestly there were so many chemicals out at one time that it would have been difficult to pinpoint the culprit. You've given me good advice and I thank you.

I have a Dr's appointment in April and will go over everything with him, just to be on the safe side. I think I lucked out with this Dr since he's got a background in drug interactions and herbal biochemistry or something like that - more open to the possible reactions of inhaling pg/vg and reduction in daily chemical intakes.

Thanks ~
