Cigalikes are garbage

I think most everyone that has been here for a while started with some form of cigalike. Most of us didn't stay there very long. Just long enough to know that this technology would work for us and started researching for better options. I know I did. :D I still have my original 180 mAh batteries. Don't use them but can't make myself toss them.

They serve a purpose. I was given a brand new disposable cigalike by an old lady I didn't even know who saw me smoking. I took it with me on a camping trip and though it wasn't the answer I had hoped for, I saw the potential and it got me researching and within a few weeks I had smoked my last cigarette..

That was my experience as well. I was given my first el cheapo vape. I saw the potential because I didn't need to smoke while that miserable little thing worked. I could use it for two hours before I'd have to charge it for three hours. Some people would have just tossed it and kept smoking. I knew there had to be a better way and I had something that lasted all day very shortly. That wasn't good enough either, and I kept going, and going...

Looking back at them from where I am now yes I agree with the op but when I was smoking and heard of this new fangled ecig thing it was my first purchase a jacvapour VIP kit and the day it arrived was the day I quit tobacco. It wasn't enough to keep me off tobacco but it was and is enough to let you know if vaping is a practical option I long ago gave mine to someone else and I believe it's in the hands of it's seventh or eighth owner now still working still helping people make the switch. So context is important with cigalikes most of us have moved forward and couldn't go back to cigalike now if we had no choice but they are still the easiest and convenient way for many to discover vaping and as like us move to better setups.

In my opinion, the cigalike has caused more harm than good. When I bought one, it made me think vaping was disgusting and just another gimmick. It wasn't until three years later that I gave vaping another try. I know other people who never never tried vaping again after the bad impression they got with Blu or Vuse.

I imagine without cigalikes there wouldn't be half the vapers there are today. Most who started vaping around the time I did started with cigalikes, as that's almost all there was...
Then on to T2 and Stardust clearomizers and carto tanks.
then Nautilus, Evods and protanks.
How long have subtanks and RTA's been out a little over a year or so?

Regulated mods have only taken off in the last year.

8 months ago an 808 cigalike got me off of cigs. I moved up to the little tankie things on them. T4's and Esmart's. which were pretty nice.
After about 2-3 months I moved up to Evods and T3's on 650 ma egos and here I stay for a while. I gave all my 808 stuff away but am going to get a bit more for times when the small compact size with is handy. I always refilled my cartos with juice of my choice though, my own DIY in about 3 weeks after starting.

Soon after I started vaping and stopped smoking at the same time in January of 2013, I purchased four eRoll kits for friends. None had any idea when I did it. I had them directly mailed and withheld my name. ALL OF THEM stopped smoking. Two of them no longer vape and two have moved along to more advanced gear, as have I. While the eRoll was a somewhat advanced version of a cigalike, it was enough to get five of us off cigarettes with a 100% success rate. I have absolutely no issue with beginner setups like this. They worked and I'm very thankful!

I always get a kick out of these types of threads..... what "troll bait" ???

Oh sure, I got my start on Blu's and even upgraded to their "tank" system.
    • lots of vapor? No.
    • lots of nicotine? No. Well there was enough.
    • battery last long? No. Define "long". Less than an hour in most cases.
    • taste bad? No. Not really. It was "different".
    • could I "cloud up" a room? Your kidding right? No.
    • overly expensive? Yes. ~3/4 of the cost of smoking analogs.
    • was I stressed/worried about chemicals? No. Analogs were sure to have way more.
The #1 issue I had was the little batteries would not last long enough so I ventured into a M&P B&M and got outfitted with a eGo VV battery and a Aspire Maxi.
    • eGo battery last longer? Sure.
    • Maxi tank last longer between refils? Sure.
    • less cost? Sure. However store bought Juice and coils was still eating into the "savings" I was hoping for by vaping instead of smoking Analogs
The "Blu's" were my backup for the eGo when it was charging. I still took the Blu's out by themselves every now and then. When I grew frustrated with how long the eGo battery lasted I "upgraded" again to replaceable battery mods and larger tanks while still today use the eGo battery daily.

While the store bought juice and coils evolved into DIY juice and RTA's the little overpriced Blu's bought on a whim at Costco got me started on this journey and I'm thankful for their and products like them existence. As others have mentioned, if if were not for the "cigalikes" I never would of thought that I could get off a 44yr habit of analogs.

I'm currently rotating dual setups of 6mg and 14mg and regularly vape just unflavored 18mg. Its all dependent on mood and what I feel like at the moment. I may now like what I call a decent lung hit which I suppose could be had with lessor equipment however whatever works is whatever works.

NJOY Kings got me through the first 3 days after a major dental extraction (2 molars :() ...

Went through the Ego phase after that, always got the clearomizers with a pen cap, looked like a fat fountain pen in my pocket. Only problem was when someone asked to borrow my "pen". Had to tell the truth, that it had no ink

Still like my eRolls, but the Ovale Elips is my all day stealth PV now, with the PCC to keep it going ... :D

When the next generation of battery technology after lithium ion becomes available, driven by the cell phone and electric car markets, we might see nearly mod performance in a cigalike form factor ...

Then the tank volume will be driving the package size, not the batteries ...

    Juice concentrate ?
