Well, the meeting of the County government is going on now. I reached out to some people in or around Catt. Couty, but I'm not sure if anyone was able to attend.

I don't know enough about the county to really say.

Normally, it'd be good news that the Legislature is primarily Republicans. Hambone68's representative is a Republican, and he said he'd be presenting the position against an indoor use ban. However, the two sponsors of the ordinance are Republicans, so that throws a fork in the road.

I'm hopeful that, at the least, Hambone68's representative perhaps got the vote delayed so they can read our letters and consider the issue.

Bad news folks. At the Board Meeting on 12/14, Local Law 16 was voted on and passed. It is now in a 45-day limbo period where it can be challenged in court and/or petitioned against, but I rather doubt that either will happen. For one, I don't have the resources to start a court battle I'm looking in to what would be required for the petition process, but don't have much hope that such an effort would be successful. Yes I'm feeling a little pessimistic right now...

All it means is that residents of the mountain county of Cattaraugus cannot use e-cigarettes where smoking is banned, and vendors there (presumably nothing but convenience stores and gas stations) cannot sell to minors.

The fact that the passage was given no attention (at least in online media) is a positive.

Cattaraugus County is the next county east of Chautauqua County (the western-most county of NY along the southern border), or just a little under 400 miles east of Long Island. As Placebo says, it's a bit of a back-woods kind of place, being mostly rural farmland, Indian reservation, and state forest land. Population is just a bit over 80,000, and the largest city in the county is Olean with a population of just over 14,000.

Regarding the consequences of the law, yes it just means that sales to minors are restricted and that you can't legally vape in areas where you can't legally smoke.
