I turned to cartomizers to try to resolve the leakage problems I experienced with carts. I now have new problems with cartos ...... and hope someone can help:

1. eGo Mega Cartomizers: the first one I tried tasted burnt after very minimal use. The second did as well. The third doesn't taste burnt ....... But it tastes like plastic. So I don't know if these are the same problem or two different problems.

2. Clearomizers. I was convinced that these would be my salvation. I've tried two. The first tasted burnt after the first puff. The second one started to taste burnt after about 10 puffs. The burnt taste isn't the same as the burnt taste on the eGo cartos, the Npro cartos I used to use, the burnt taste of a dry atomizer, etc (which all have a similar burnt taste to me). It is very unique and is sort of a plastic-burned flavor (and maybe some glue flavor thrown in).

For both types of cartos, i followed the manufacturer instructions and filled with a syringe. Does anyone know what might be causing one or both of these problems, and how to remedy?

My experience with the eGo Mega cartos was that they are inconsistent at best. Some of mine tasted burnt right away, some tasted like wet rags and some tasted burnt after I'd only used them once.

Some people suggest doing a dry burn on the CE2's to get rid of the burnt taste. I started rinsing mine out in hot water and letting them dry before I use them. They have a big problem with wicking, especially if your using juice that has VG in it. I vape mostly 50/50 and had to change the way I vape because they can't keep up with me. Some people find that if they invert them between draws it helps, but that's kind of a PITA. There shouldn't be any glue in them, but who knows for sure? I'm not saying that they do, so don't jump on me.

Just a side note: Since I started using mods, I've gone back to using the cartos with filler again and having the best luck ever.

Thanks for the tips (as well as your guidance on many other thread I've read here at ECF)!! To rinse them as you suggest, do I just take the plug out of the end and run it under hot water? I would like to give it a try.

I know I don't have a very high post count but I choose to ghost the forum rather than put my two cents in on everything :) Im kinda of a experience it for yourself type guy, so I take what most have to say with a grain of salt, as I don't expect perfection out of everything, and I know what works for one might not work for another :) but I hope what I have to say will be helpful.

As far as the ego mega cartos I don't have any of those as I didn't like how big they made the ego look, however the clearomizers I was sure were my "salvation" as well and at first I was a little dissappointed with the "burnt" taste that your getting, but after a few tank fulls the burnt taste has seemed to go away. I bought both the XL clear's and the regular clears, and I really prefer the regular sized ones as I feel that they wick alot better than the Xl's however when I put something fruity in the XL's and give it an occasional tip to let the juice go to the top the burnt taste is all but non-exsistent. The regular sized ones seem to wick very well with an occasional burnt taste, but nothing that I can't get over with a couple extra puffs :) just remember tipping or laying it down on its side in between puffs is your friend when using these clears lol. I have been using the same 2 regular sized clears for over a week now and they only seem to get better with each fill, and I have probably filled each one well over 15 to 20 times lol so don't give up hope on them if you have the regular sized ones, however if you only have the big ones I would suggest trying a fruity flavor of some sort in them it could just be in my head that those flavors work better in them, but it seems to work for me just fine. I would also get yourself some of the regular clear's when you can as they have become my favorite :)

Also keep in mind that things produced in such mass quantities are bound to have some "bunk" ones here and there so if after a couple of tank fulls (min 4 or 5) the taste has still not improved try another, but don't give up I know it can be frustrating but its worth it in the end when you get them going.

And just incase your wondering where I got mine from, I got them from Volcano, and the fruity flavor that I am in love with is the "Blue Water Punch" they sell its awesome lol I also like minthol, but again doesn't seem to work well in the XL's. I believe the clears are 2.6-2.8ohms fi your wondering but I could be wrong on that one lol so maybe someone else will have that part for you
Hope that helps a little atleast, any questions just ask :toast: -Nano

Nano - sounds like you have used the clearomizers for quite a while. I also have the regular ones from volcano. Strange question for you - how long do you wait between puffs? I tend to take 3 our 4 in a row. Have you done this? Did it impact the taste? So far I'm disappointed ... But bought 10 so I'm going to try to make them work. Based on what you have shared, I'm hopeful I can figure them out.

With the ceramics, I rinse out with ever clear, let them dry, then do a dry burn....then I tip it after every few vapes (not while vaping). At times I just get a bad one and nothing will work. The last package I had every one of them worked very well. I use a 80 pg/20 vg mix and have used them on 50/50 mixes with no difference in performance. There is an area in the modders forum that discusses how to mod these so that they will wick better.

I take 2 or 3 puffs then I just kinda wait for a couple seconds while Im reading a book or watching tv, but sometimes I chain vape lol and hit it constantly if it starts to taste bad then I know I need to tip and let the air bubbles pop out and go up toward to atomizer (this way I know the juice is hitting the wick) if I take a puff to many times in a row with out tipping inbetween drags it can sometimes taste bad...One thing I noticed is to make sure you have the end of the clearomizer in your lips and a nice tight seal lol before I push the button on my inferno and then I let the vapor start to fill my mouth before I start to actually take a long slow drag :) that helped me get a better more flavorful hit out of them and I am becoming more and more satisfied with these little clear's considering how much they cost lol. Which is the funny part on a side note why are they so much more than the steel ones? they are made from thin plastic which should be cheaper lol just something that I was wondering, probably has to do with supply and demand I guess. So take your 3 or 4 puffs in a row but just make sure while your exhaling to hold your PV on its side in your hand so the air bubbles can pop out of the cup and let more juice in. Just out of curiousity what kinda juice are you vapin? -Nano
