Switching flavors requires a carto change? Can they be cleaned or at ~2.00 a piece should you just replace them?

Some folk claim you can clean a carto, but those people are just not right in the head

Not only do you need to replace the carto when you change flavors, you should also give the tank a good wash. Some flavors can "stick" around longer than others. Strong cinnamon or licorice are problematic.

The MOST important thing you need to learn is how to properly prime a carto. If you do not prime them correctly, you will not enjoy them.

Here again is Baditude's Blog. Read it. 5 times. Not 4. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3710-5-baditudes-cartomizer-tank-setup-guide.html

Then go to youtube and search for priming cartomisers. Watch at least a Dozen different ones, 3 times each. Then pick the method that makes the most sense to you, and do it that way. You will mess it up at first. You will spill much eliquid. Then, you will get it right and you will have a great vape.

Here's a 19mm standard length IBTanked on an MVP2 with a rook drip tip. The 22mm holds more liquid and is going to stick out slightly from the beauty ring. The 25mm would work but may look bulky on the MVP. You can select the drip tip on the tank build page or use one of your own if you'd like. The nice thing about the rook tip that i got is that it stays on pretty tight and covers the top of the tank so that it makes it harder to slide the tank off by accident. I pick it up by the tank all the time an it doesn't move a millimeter. All of their parts are built to tight tolerances (unlike chinese stuff). The end caps are actually the most expensive part of these tanks so if you ever break the glass it's only about a $5 replacement. They come with a smoktech carto and you can select the resistance and length depending on the tank size (standard, XL and halfling). I use the low resistance which measure out about 2 ohms. The standard resistance is about 3 ohms. I vape about 7-8 watts on cartos so the low resistance works out and I'm used to that resistance from the coils I use on clearos. Also pick up the tank filler tip for 2 bucks. It will make your life of re-filling the tank much easier. It can be used as a drip tip also. The tanks come put together (without carto inserted) in a nice little plastic container called a thingy. Instead of priming the carto in the normal drip and flip fashion you can fill the tank then put it in the thingy and open and close the cap several times to force liquid into the holes in the side. You'll see air bubbles coming out of the little holes. After about 8 open/close routines I take it out and check the filler to see if it's getting wet on top and suck on it to make sure it's not flooding. OK, as far as cartos to get, get the flanged cartos. They have a lip on the bottom that stops it when it gets in all the way. I bought some non-flanged boges and they work fine but you have to be careful that you don't push the carto in too hard and it goes through the tank and all your juice runs out.

good luck

Really good advice sub, thank you. Where do I find the flanged cartos?

IBTanked has them under accessories. They're $1.50 a piece and that's a pretty decent price. I can't find them in standard (35mm) length anywhere in 5 packs. You may want to go with the XL tank (just remember the cartos are 45mm long). It holds a little more juice and isn't much longer than the standard. I believe the standard is 1.21" vs 1.5" for the XL. The XL holds 2 ml of juice vs 1.5ml for standard (not including about 1ml for the carto).

Also I suggest NOT buying dual coil cartos. The second coil is higher up and can tend to burn the filler when used in a carto tank because the bottom coil gets most of the juice.

I use 50/50 juice usually so I get them pre-punched with 2 holes. That's pretty standard. I don't see much reason to get a 1 hole carto unless you're using 80% or more PG and it's flooding.

So being as indecisive as I am, I bought the smok pyrex DCT with some prepunched cartos to go along with it for now. Some more unneeded juice was the result of that decision. I'll be ordering either a provari or the 134 by innokin within a week or two so that means I'll need something new for that as well, if I like the carto thing I'll definitely be ordering up the tank from ibtanked.

Thanks for all of the input!

Hope you like it. I really prefer carto/tanks.

Just make sure you fill the carto completely. Once a carto is burnt, it's toast. Standard size hold about 1 ml of liquid. Either the condom method- fill the plastic carto end cap with liquid and push the battery end in. Or, drip the liquid in. Do about 5/10 drops, give it a good thermometer shake, add 5 more, continue until slushy on top.
