You tried plain blue foam? The blue foam should be very slightly wider than the juice cup (just a smidge for a tiny juice cup) and I cut them about 3/4 the inner length and a bit tapered on the inner end. You need to keep it at the top of the juice cup - if it won't hold itself up there, make it a bit wider. A full fill with blue foam is remove the blue foam, fill the juice cup 1/2 way (2/3 if you are daring), stick the blue foam in and push it down into the juice to wet it. Reposition at the top edge of the juice cup, then top off with 1-3 drops (whatever it needs to look just damp on top, not a puddle).

And if you have carts that push on over your atty, do not use the atty to push the juice cup back in - especially if it is a pointy atty. The atty will just shove the stuffing down too far into the cart. You need to get the juice cup back into the mouthpiece WITHOUT pushing on the stuffing.

What ecig are you using?

My first e-cig (ego), I used carts for the first day only. I was getting burnt taste so quick, I just couldn't take it. I switched to dripping, and then discovered cartos. Now I use only cartos, which will give me an hour or two of vaping without any burnt taste. And as long as I remember to periodically top it off, I never have to experience that nasty burnt taste.

I had the exact same experience, but following dormouse's suggestion I got the blue foam and started cutting my own fillers. After a few mistakes, I figured out almost exactly as described above and my carts are working much better. I can full one up and not worry about having to refill again for an hour of serious vaping. Just keep at it until you get the shape just right. I was thinking it might be nice if somebody with more computer skills than me could create a printable page with a template for the perfect blue foam pieces.

Try lining up the atomizer bridge /\ and the juice cup if it's a 510

Or buy cartomizers? That would eliminate the atomizer totally. I like the Boge soft-cap ones for 510 and some like the SLB ones but they have an inner seal you also need to pop out also when filling. 510 needs to use the standard resistance ones, and Ego/Riva can use those or the LR (low resistance) ones. You need to fill a carto totally to start then wait (I lay it on different sides) to make totally sure every bit of stuffing is damp so you don't singe and ruin it. After that, just keep it damp and you can get 4-7 days use out of a carto. Some are successful with cleaning and drying them after that and some toss them. You can use a 510 plastic or delrin drip tip instead of the soft white end cap - easier to pull the drip tip out to add juice (soft cap removal needs something like an unbent paper clip stuck in the mouth hole just enough to pop out the cap).
