How are you guys vaping bobas in a kayfun. It's one of the only juices I have a hard time with wicking....I guess too thick.

I've tried with cotton wick, silica and ekowool. I have to cover the airflow hole and take a prime puff every few puffs to keep the wick from burning and dry hit.

Any solution?

I'm using a 3.1 with air flow control.

I use cotton on micro coils and vape Alienvision juices just fine. One of my alldays include Bobbas and Gorilla. It may have something to do with how you are laying the wicks on the deck or maybe you are putting too much cotton through? The cotton will expand once it soaks up the juice, this could cause a choking effect.

6 wrap mini-coil on 2mm screwdriver barrel (or 5/64" drill) . Meters @ 1.2 ohms. Cotton wick, just the slightest of drag while pulling through the coil. Fluff up and fan out the cotton tails along the deck. Juice channel visible when chimney is screwed on. Have gone through at least 15 tanks of Boba's and Gorilla Juice on my KF 3.1 with this build. Airflow is wide open - no dry hits; no primer puffs needed.

I use this build on my KFLs (one is a +) as well, as I vape 100% VG exclusively.

I had the same issue at first but finally figured it out. As mentioned above, with cotton, more is less. You cannot roll your cotton too tight and must leave the juice channels open in order for boba's to wick. When you build soak your wick good and press it against the wall before screwing on the chimney. Then complete assembly and fill er up. Good luck!

I'll post pictures on next fill. Right now I'm using 2mm ekowool (not sure why? ) and I cut it the exact size off the chamber.... 2mm fills the juice chamber sides perfectly. Thinner juices are working fine, thick juices are giving me a little hard time. And my air flow is about 50% because some one told me you need a little resistance on the drag to keep the wick primed.... it's not tight or anything...just not wide open.

Never thought of adding vodka. I did try to thin out Havana gold (same vendor) with pg but it crippled the taste big time.

I never had any luck at all with ekowool or silica at all. I could not get it to wick no matter what I did and it just didn't taste right. I use cotton for everything now. I haven't tried to thin anything down with alcohol or distiller water for fear of affecting the taste.

I am vaping Havana Gold right now on a Kayfun Lite (1.7 ohm micro coil 28 gauge with cotton). Never have any problems with high VG juices (boba's GJ) with either cotton or P and C yarn. As stated less volume wise is more and I too soak my wick and make sure that the juice channels are clear. Sorry can not be of any help just stating my setup since we are vaping the same juice with totally different results.

Let me ask you guys this, a little off topic... how often are you changing the cotton wicks?

When I use cotton I get pure taste bliss... I change mainly to prevent cross contamination of flavors (when I care that is)... but I've heard people change every 2 - 3 tanks...I'd be changing wicks twice a day!

That's one of the reasons I'm trying ekowool, better longevity of the wick...coil seems like they last damn near forever...LOL

And back on topic, I think my issue is with the ekowool and it's placement of the ekowool in the juice channels....I tried taking a picture but i knew what I was looking at and couldn't make it out. (Need a camera, not a phone I guess)

I change my cotton wicks when the flavor starts to mute. Almost always (since I use only 100% VG) the coil is getting pretty gunked up at that point also. With 4 tanks (all KF's; all running cotton) in my current daily rotation, I'm rewicking and dryburning each tank after 5 or 6 days.

I'm thinkin' of throwing a couple of my gennys (mesh wicks) back in the mix - those things just keep on runnin' with a quick rinse and dryburn every week or so.

I change my cotton every other tank. Typically by the end of the second tank the flavor starts to drop off. I disassemble, rinse, dry burn, rewick, reassemble and fill. I normally don't change flavors in my Russians. I have different tanks I load with different flavors so it is much easier to change flavors by just changing tops.

I've only got the 1 kayfun right now, and since I got it it's been the only atomizer I use.

Funny the mention of genesis atomizer... we played around with 2 genesis last night for the first time in many weeks... an rsst and aga t2, drilled the air holes out to 1/16 which was such a drastic improvement! Using ss rope wick, ekowool on one and ss mesh on the other...very impressed! VERY IMPRESSED.

As for cotton, I seem to be changing every day to every other day. It's not hard, just annoying I guess...I wanted something that last a little longer. Tried 2mm ekowool cord, had trouble with the wicking.

I was very impressed with cleaning the ekowool. Torched it like xc116, pretty cool.

I've gone thru countless tankfuls of Bobas in my KFL+ and never had a wicking issue...here's an example of my latest favorite build, some new coil styles are on deck for tomorrow, so this may become obsolete, until then...this works well.

What size coil is that? And it's that yarn wick or rolled up cotton ball?

Looks great, I've seen the build before, but after doing a 1mm coil, I'm guessing that cool is pretty small.

1.5mm 28ga and the wick is off a bulk roll of sterile cotton...I'll be trying this same build with Kanthal ribbon, as well as the inverted V coil, it's basically a standard micro bent in the middle to form the V...I always end up back to the one pictured, but what the hell...I'm due for a new wick, so why not...I've got the material to experiment.

Just built basically what you see above….the difference being, i reduced the diameter of the coil to 1mm, wrapped on a paper clip…naturally the amount of cotton used is minuscule, then i looped the tails back up off the decks and over the top of the coil, completely covering it…wow, even more vapor and flavor is right there and will likely get better when broken in.

1mm 9 wrap on the paper clip with 28 ga and measured 1.2ohm, guess you could call it a nano-coil.
