I have only used one of my three 510 atomizers... I guess I am trying to use one til it dies and move on to the next one.

Anyway, the one I am using needs cleaning. I have heard things like boil it ... I tried that, and yes it still works but it certainly does not act 'new' ..

So I am asking since the 510 atomizers are recessed and not exposed for cleaning what might obviously be sticking out, what is the best way?

Thanks!

Besides not cleaning it. I think the best result people have been getting is from laying it cartridge side down overnight and just blowing it out, or letting it sit in denture cleaner.

Some people like to rinse with pure grain alcohol, or soak in cola, or hydrogen peroxide. And other people even do quick high volt dry burns (10v-15v usually).

I personally like to just set it upside down over night and blow it out.

I just answered a guys post in the new member area. He wanted to know how to get rid of the the burnt taste in his 510. I discovered the magic answer to 510 maintenance and it sounds like you may benefit as well so I'm just going to copy/paste the same reply here.

Same thing happened to me about a three days into having my 510. A couple points I'll add that fixed it for me. First off once this happens remove your cartridge and smell it. You'll notice that that burnt flavor has now polluted your filler and cartridges as well as atomizer. Dripping takes it away temporarily but then your back down to the polluted junk. Here's what fixed the problem for me:

1)Don't just blow out the atomizer it needs a thorough draining to get rid of the "yuck". To do this twist a paper towel up and push gently into the atomizer till it touches the wick. Leave it to sit over night with atomizer up, paper towel down (draining position). If you want it done in a hurry replace paper towel every 5-10 minutes until you pull out a paper towel that is perfectly dry. Your atomizer is now completely drained. IMPORTANT: Add 5 drops directly to atomizer prior to vaping again in order to prime it.

2) Your cartridges have the same "yuck". Remove filler (wool I guess). Wash the wool and cartridge itself thoroughly in hot water.. Do so until you get no burnt smell on either. Blow water out of carts and dry wool on paper towel.

3) To avoid this happening again: Make sure to align your cartridge correctly (I'm not sold that this is all that important but it does seem to help a bit). To do this look in side your atty and you will see a white ring at the base of the wick that is the same shape as the top of your cart. Match em up when you plug it together.

Personally I am now in the habit of doing this as routine maintenance as it made a huge difference!!! Every few nights I simply yank the wool out of all my empty carts run to the sink and wash/dry. Stuff a paper towel in at least one of my atty's and prop it up in position for the night. Takes 5 minutes and is so worth it!

In regards to getting 10 smokes out of a cart. Sounds about right to me if filled properly. Are you simply dripping into the cart until wool is saturated? If so....wrong answer. Pull the wool and drip 13 drops into the empty cartridge....gently replace wool with tweezers...then top off until liquid will not absorb. 10 smokeys ready to go. Again something that becomes second nature quickly as rather than count drops you'll just know where your "fill line" should be.(I would imagine exactly how many smokes it equates to would also depend on your e-liquid. I use Like Smoke/Ruyan #4 in 24mg)

I blew mine out, then I rinsed my out under a faucet with hot water since I knew water wouldn't ruin my atomizer. Then I left them to dry for 2 days. I do wish I'd only just blown them out though, but rinsing was the quickest way to get rid of that primer taste for me without having to taste (and inhale) primer fluid.

I am not a big proponent of cleaning except when you are trying to rid an atomizer of a very strong flavor, like menthol. A used atomizer will never act as new. Drain it each night and use it until vapor production is no longer satisfying and move on to the next atomizer.

gashin provides the best 'industry recommended' cleaning method. This method was recommended to me by Shenzhen Joye Technology and Heaven Gifts. It may help increase the useful life of an atomizer, but, in my experience, not significantly longer. Here is the Joye recommended Grand Cleaning procedure...

Sometimes you might think your atomizer is dead, because smoke reduces significantly. In this case you can do the following:

- Take out the cartridge and mouthpiece and battery.

- Clean contact points of battery and atomizer with purified alcohol.

- Take the atomizer with the big opening up and pour purified alcohol inside. Shake the atomizer for at least 2 minutes, drain the alcohol through the small hole at the other side and repeat this at least 3 times

- Rinse the atomizer with hot water and let it dry for 16 hours standing up.

- After 16 hours, if your atomizer is dry, you can put in a new cartridge and new battery. Your cigarette will work normal again.

I pour vodka in the cartridge end of the atty then blow it out then rinse it and dry it for a cpl hours then its usually as good as I can expect it to be...

Pay no mind to anybody who tries to recommend rubbing alcohol, mouth wash, coke, cheap booze.

Who said anything about cheap?? I hope you don't feel that I am ignorant for doing what makes sense to me and using what methods I feel work best? I could personally never condemn someone for doing what seems right to them, unless it was life or limb dangerous and they had been warned and they did it anyway...

There are a lot of people on this board who talk about their experiments, without paying attention to the hidden dangers.

Yes, just ignore the people who have been doing this and have first hand knowledge of what works and what doesn't? What hidden dangers could there possibly be with any of those items? You should do more reading and less writing.

InTheCity;

No one actually has a positive method for cleaning atomizers, and everyone's opinion is valuable here, but you have an opinion about other methods, and hidden dangers, but don't make mention of any of the dangers.

How was *that* for a run on sentence? Anyhoo, elaborating on your statement may add some useful information to the discussion. As it stands, there isn't much there to go by.

I HATE the taste of a new atty, so could I use this technique to get rid of that new atomizer "dead ..." taste?

Also, I would think when using soda you should use diet because all the heavy syrup could do more harm than good.
