A friend of mine is struggling to quit smoking. I want to help him quit cigarettes so I offered to introduce a new squonk mod to him as a gift, hoping that it will encourage him to cut down or even quit.

The squonker should be Regulated, a must. It should also be one that takes 18650's (without an adapter) being that he doesn't have a charger for 20700 or 21700 batteries. It doesn't need to be a high end device.

As far as the rda is concerned I'd prefer if it comes with the mod, one that can take a single coil and one that is hard to over-squonk. The build I'll put in the RDA will probably be a Nicrome Fused Clapton (single coil) and would run at about 30-40 Watts with 12mg juice.

I really hope that this works out well for my friend, a good means to help him quit. I figured that being that he has dripped for a while and used rta's (but I would build and wick), a squonk mod setup may solve his issues with cigarettes. Money is an issue for him so I would do anything to help.

Thanks in advance for your great suggestions.

I really like my Pico Squeeze 2. It has everything you're looking for. You can get it with or without a rda. I've only been squonking 6 or 8 months tho so you might want to wait for more experienced squonkers to reply.
:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:
I was going to suggest the Squeeze2, but OP said native 18650, NO Adapter.

Does the adapter complicate things? I just want to make things as simple as possible to make it easier for him.
Best practice suggests NOT charging the sleeved 18650 in an external charger. The sleeve may not be easily removed and that may complicate things for some folks.

If charging the battery in the device, the sleeve should not present any issues or problems.

Another option:
I intended to post this link earlier: WISMEC LUXOTIC SURFACE with KESTREL - Wismec Electronics Co.,Ltd

Yes he has an external charger 18650 batteries. I guess if the mod has an adapter it wouldn't be a big deal then.

It might he a bit hard to find something relatively new on the market that isn't using some sort of adapter for an 18650 as 20x batteries in single squonks have become more popular. But they can be found. I might double check his current external charger. A lot of them don't specifically list 20x batteries, but a surprising number of them do fit them.

Something like the Hotcig RSQ 80W squonk comes to mind as an 18650 box, but isn't a kit. A Recurve as a single coil rda is a nice choice for midrange wattage builds. Only kit I can think of that comes with a single coil rda is the Squeeze 2 as already mentioned but the you have the battery adapter thing. The Pulse X also needs a battery adapter but the rda included Is a dual coil build.

I guess the other question is have is if he's already dripping and using RTAs why do you believe a squonk setup will help him any more in stopping smoking? I mean that's the ultimate goal while keeping it enjoyable but can you clarify why squonking might work better?

Finally if he's dripping and using RTAs I would think he could build and wick an rda just fine so less burden on you. I think wanting to help your friend is great and those are a few solutions to check out. If you can get past the adapter thing choices really open up.

Final finally, before buying a new setup do you have an extra squonker you could loan him for a few days to see if he likes it? That might save some money if it's going to be a bust in comparison to what's he's already doing.

Edit: thanks @Izan I forgot about the Luxotic. But the Kestrel tank that comes with the kit is an odd bird. Not a normal rda, but I have zero experience or even read anything about it so I can't call it good or bad, but it doesn't look like something you pop your own coils into.

Maybe the Luxotic without the tank and a separate rda?

When he gets tired of his equipment he tends to go back to smoking. He likes dripping more than rta's so I figured this would help him. He hates that when walking in the street he has to drip.

The adapter thing isn't an issue like I thought it was. It the pico Squeeze 2 has a single coil option, plus it has an adapter for 18650's then I'll seriously look into it.

The question becomes one battery or two. 30-40w is very doable with a single battery, but the mod won’t last all day.

I don’t quite know why you don’t want a 2x700 battery. They have half again the power of a single 18650 and since he’ll be charging in the mod the actual battery will never leave the device and its size/shape therefore doesn’t matter. You’ve likely got your reasons though.

A two battery mod that might have gone well is an ohmboy rage squonk. They may be ungettable though.
A gbox would also work but you may have the same problem.
Lostvape drones are still gettable but they’re extremely expensive.

So single 18650 is more or less where it’s at unless you want to drop $140 on a drone. He will need more than one battery to get through a day. The whole 18650 only requirement really screws things up I’m afraid. People just aren’t doing big 18650 devices any more.

I’m going to suggest this mostly because it’s cheap:
$35.80 Authentic Aleader Box Killer 80W BF TC VW APV Squonk Box Mod - 5-80W / 100-315'C(200-600'F) / 1*18650 / built-in 7ml squonk bottle at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

No idea how good it actually is, but it’s the top hit for popularity on fasttech with single battery 18650 squonkers. Might want to add some single battery protection condoms as well as he will be carrying spare batteries.

So I believe I'm going to get him the pico Squeeze 2, along with 2 21700 batteries. Being that the mod charges the batteries with a 2A current I think he'll be doing just fine with the option to use the adapter.

Sounds like a plan.
Please remember to NOT use a computer/laptop/television as a USB power source.
A dedicated wall adapter rated at 2 amps or greater WILL be needed.

It's a fine choice. I've been surprisingly happy with mine and it's one of the more underrated squonk mods out there but it's really one of the best in the mainstream market.

Fair warning. It does use an 18650 condom adapter if he ever wants to flip to one. A major pain in the ..... As I only use 21700s it's not an issue but just a heads up on that selection.

@Don29palms suggestion of the Samsung 40T is exactly what I use. I vape around 40-45W and I can was it get all day from it. It's a solid reliable choice for that setup.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the topside. I chain vape mine on a 3000mah battery, and get a full 10ml bottle out if a battery. The 21700 version comes with a nice sleeve for the 18650s, so the external charger would work, or there is the dual 18650 model. 18650s fit well in the single with the sleeve. I put a dead rabbit sq, single coil, on mine, and have to try to flood it to get it to leak.

I avoided it because of price myself. It’s not even a birthday gift or something. It’s a “stop smoking damnit” gift. No reason to spend the big dollars. There are kid of a bajillion 20700 VV squonkers out there at the moment. The one that wins is the one that’s on sale.
