Aspire K1 BVC coil rehabilitation tips wanted

Hi Everybody!

I've been trying to find a fix or replacement for my current setup. I'm using these K1 BVC (1.8 Ohm) coils, and they seem to stop wicking properly after only a day or two. They're not burning out; I can cover the airholes and suck liquid into the coil but it's a pain and results in a little flooding if I'm not very careful.

Has anybody found a way to clean/refurbish them when this happens? I've tried boiling them in water for a while and then soaking them in vodka, and it doesn't seem to help. I have a ton of them now and I'd hate to just keep throwing them out. I hope this is in the right section.

I rebuild mine. Top comes off and install new coil with the cotton and push tube back over with holes in proper spot so they can wick. UTube has videos on rebuilding them. CHEERS!

Any chance they're fake?
The authentication code means little.

I've known people to report ur problem-
could never get them to name the vendor.

They were a very popular coil-
plenty of incentive for cloners, or for Aspire to lower quality control.
FWIW, I bought all mine from 2 vendors-
and they all worked beautifully for weeks each.
( I rarely took them above 11W & I used ~70%PG & no sweet juices)

I started rebuilding them after saving a few youtube vids.

I was surprised that the tiny juice holes were enough for a 1.1 stainless build using TC.

Because of the rubber grommet, you're probably better off using nr-r-nr wires.
I don't think 1.8Ω stainless steel nr-r-nr wires are easy to find, but nichrome is.

Hi. I'm new to vaping. I love a dark, sweet tobacco juice that clogged up the atomizer that came with my first kit, so I bought a K1 that came with a 1.8 ohm BVC six days ago. I also bought one 1.6 ohm replacement coil and am waiting on ten more 1.6 ohm coils in the mail. I found that I just can't get a decent vapor or flavor out of the 1.8. It also takes a second to heat up after the button press. I absolutely love the K1 with the 1.6, though. The only problem I'm having is that juice is building up on the top hole of the coil and causing a blockage at the beginning of a draw. Not a big deal since reading about blowing through it with the battery off, then wiping it out with a paper towel. But I honestly can't use the 1.8. It just doesn't work well. Have you tried a 1.6? Hard to believe the difference .2 ohms makes in this design.

Just a note: I ordered 5 originally from Aspire, then when I tracked the package and realized it shipped from China, I ordered 5 more from myfreedomsmokes.com . Like I said, I'm new to this, but hope that was a decent vendor choice. Would you mind sharing where you got the good coils, @flambo?
As long as my purchase works well, I plan on staying with My Freedom Smokes, but wouldn't mind knowing other good places in case they run out some time.

As for rehabilitation, I got the bright idea that stuffing a little cotton in the coil would help with the buildup of juice. This totally blocked the draw and when I pulled it out I had my first taste of super strong burnt flavor. I tried to keep vaping it, but it was really bad. A 3 hour soak in 91% rubbing alcohol fixed it right up, good as new, after a thorough drying, of course.

Have you tried a 1.6? Hard to believe the difference .2 ohms makes in this design.

I was vaping 70-80% PG & I liked the 1.8 better (Aspire Nova- much tighter draw too on that atty)

Each mod upgrade gave me a noticeably better vape.
(FWIW, I found I got a more satisfying hit releasing the fire button before I finished inhaling, which may help with your juice congealing)

Someone I know was having endless probs with the Aspire Nautilus coils she bought from MFS about a year ago, & I stumbled on some posts on ecf naming MFS as the source of dud Aspire coils.
(sorry, I didn't know how to save the link to the exact post back then -
ha ha! googled the bit I quoted-
Later, I did see MFS named again as a source of products with "issues", & the credit card hacking.)

Anyway, I'd already decided buying & stockpiling factory coils was a headache, & once I realized it was a lottery too, my focus turning to rebuilding.
One of my good Aspire vendors is a diff continent from you-
the other was Health Cabin.

Honestly, rebuilding the factory coil heads is pretty easy-
nr-r-nr wires take the guesswork out, protect the grommet & are what Aspire were using.
I suggest stainless steel wire/s- cleaner taste & works on all mods (inc some TC mods)

A good reason to save ur dead coil heads-
you don't know when Aspire will stop making them, or switch to a version which is almost impossible to rebuild.

I doubt there's anything easier to learn rebuilding on than the Stumpy & u can use the experience before u try the fiddlier Aspire coil heads (or buy a TC mod with TCR & become a dripaholic - lol
My first ever builds were the tiny Aspire coil heads & it was pretty easy, & soon my builds were as good/better than Aspire's)

make sure your hands are super clean before handling the wick-
and it helps to gently break in new nr-r-nr coils.
