Anyone know what size a 14 gauge needle is in drill bit form?

I'm trying to imitate a micro coil build I saw on youtube. He uses a 14 gauge blunt needle to build his coil. The needles comes in packs so I was wondering if I can find a drill bit of similar size.

You've got some good info on needle gauge sizes and wire drill bits. Here's a online coil building calculator that may help you modify one wrap diameter to another. I've used it so I know it's pretty accurate.

I believe a 14 gauge needle is 0.083" diameter, or 2.1 mm outside diameter. According to this, the 1/16" size is a bad approximation and will lead you wrong.

However, a small deviation from the diameter originally built will not make much of a difference in performance as long as you take it into account for wire length to achieve the resistance you want. That means when you change the diameter, you need to change the number of coils you wrap. The coil calculator will help you figure that out :)

Good luck with it :thumb:
