Anyone have a REAL comparison of e-cigs vs. normal cigs for the first cig high?

Hey everyone! I'm new here. I'm a social smoker who only smokes when I drink, which is usually many times a week. I notice that the want for a cigarette comes after one or two drinks. After finishing off the first cig, I feel that nice high... For example, the tingling of the fingers, feeling of having more of an alcohol buzz, and slight dizziness yet calming effect. I enjoy that feeling.

I've been looking all over the internet about the e-cigs, and all everyone talks about is the amount of vapor. I like the idea of the vapor since it obviously tells you that you are inhaling something. What I am more interested in is if the same nicotine hit as felt with regular cigarettes.

Do you feel the same feeling from smoking an e-cig that you do from a regular cigarette, or are these mostly a placebo effect of holding something to your mouth that exhales a vapor?

Well, having been a daily smoker for many years, I myself have not experienced the finger tingling or dizziness from real cigs in a long, long time.

I will say this tho, and I think it's what you are asking: Yes, the E-cig is every bit as satisfying as a regular cig when consuming alcohol. It is not a placebo.....unless you use 0mg nicotine juice. It pretty much duplicates the smoking experience. Thats why so many are successful in switching to vaping on their first day and never going back to the analogs. Not everyone, but many do.

You do feel the same feeling from smoking an e-cig that you do from a regular cigarette, but flavor/taste is much better once you find the right nicotine juice. The taste is nothing like a cig, but the throat hit is there. And you do get the effects of the nicotine.

Btw, welcome to ECF. If you have any more questions, just post them. People here are happy to help and you won't get flamed.

Well, my opinion may be in the minority here but from my experience I think you might end up thinking PVs (personal vaporizers) suck rather than being satisfied.
Allow me to explain:

I have tried a few different styles of PV at this point and none of them is as simple as an old-fashioned cigarette. There is some amount of fiddling, tweaking and so on involved to get good results. Even the simplest method- cartomizers with pre-filled eLiquid- requires a slightly different method of inhaling or else you get the burnt taste of the cartridge filling rather than the pleasant taste of the vapor.

This is NOT to say that you couldn't be happy and satisfied with a PV, but that you need to know it will not perfectly replicate the whole experience.

As for the nicotine hit and flavor- yes, this can absolutely be satisfied, no doubt. The issue is that some people are satisfied by relatively simple, available commercial products and others aren't truly happy until they try a few different devices and find something that works well for them.

I am not trying to discourage you by any means BUT want you to have as much information as possible before spending hard-eaned cash on something you may not like.

I'm going to disagree with the previous posters.

I don't think you are going to get that feeling you are looking for.
Most of that feeling you are describing is really coming from the carbon monoxide, which electronic cigarettes do not have.

You might get a slight caffeine-like buzz off the nicotine though.
But it doesn't sound like that is the buzz you're talking about.

DC2 is correct. Since I started vaping, I don't get the tingling in my fingers anymore and you know what? I'm glad that I don't! It's a clear indication that I'm no longer putting something in my body that interferes with oxygen uptake. My gums are pink and my skin color looks healthy again for the first time in over 30 years!

Anarchology - a huge Welcome to you!

... you need to know it will not perfectly replicate the whole experience.

I have to disagree - use of a mini, KR808D-1, or 510 perfectly replicates the whole experience, except for the lighter, but it does not duplicate it. :vapor:

I have to agree with proudlion. My first experience with the KR808 was just about as close to smoking as you could get without lighting up. I had ordered 36mg cartomizers and they gave me the dizzy headrush I would get when I was a new smoker...40 something years ago. No tingling fingers but I was a heavy smoker so I may have just been used to it and not noticed. Its not a placebo that you just hold in your mouth. You inhale and exhale...you blow out vapor that looks very much like smoke..you can make "smoke" rings if you desire. Switching over to vaping was pretty painless for me. I thought I would NEVER stop smoking because I loved it and it was interwoven with every part of my life.

I don't get the 'tingle' either, but I smoked full strength cigs at a pack a day. What I do notice, is that if I do not use my pv, I WANT a cig. This goes away as soon as I take a 'drag' from my pv.... oddly enough, I have had a few cigs since I got my 510, and while smoking the d#mn thing, I wanted to use my pv, picked it up even. Weird.

So there we are:
Different people, different experiences and different opinions.

Fortunately there are a lot of different PVs available and the prices for most starter kits are CHEAP.
You should be easily able to try one for a good bit less than $50.

And my comment about PVs not perfectly replicating the experience-
When I smoked I would pull a .... from the pack, light it and smoke. Repeat frequently throughout the day. A lot.

With PVs- anything with a cart or carto- vape 2 to 4 times, pull out juice bottle, top off cart/carto and vape 2 to 4 times again. Repeat ad infinitum. Swap batteries every hour or so.

Quite a different thing, really.

I have only tried two models. My first model was a greensmoke, and I actually bought 0mg carts...because I hadn't smoked analogs in about 6 or 7 months, but I was craving cigarettes, and I didn't want nicotine. Sure, there was tons of vapor, as I had read about with greensmoke, but the craving was still there. So I smoked analogs again pretty regularly...I then bought a vapor4life model, this time with 11mg nic...and although I really don't get much vapor from any of the cartomizer flavors I've tried so far, I definitely get the nicotine. If I'm relaxed enough, I can even get that "high" you're describing. I'd imagine that if I kicked up my nic level, I'd feel it more. I hope that helps...it's mind over matter somewhat, but the nicotine definitely plays a HUGE role, and the vapor not so much. Also, the throat hit I get with the nicotine is MUCH more realistic than without nicotine...so I really feel more satisfied, as if I'd had an analog :)
