When this happens everyone should blast the vendor.I know everyone will disagree but it will cause them and all other vendors to really tighten security and take more care with orders/employees.This is still a small market with lots of competitors. If you have ever had this happen it sucks even though the banks will usually get your money back it sometimes takes awhile. If your on a tight budget and need, food gas, or to pay the rent your F'd. My 2 cents

Obviously use discretion, but if your positive it was only used there let people know. There is CC fraud everywhere but if I used it only at one place I would be sitting around telling my friends hey you may not want to go to such and such place my CC # was stolen there. That's what I mean by blast....make people aware....that's the edit

Sidenote- I don't understand why people think its wrong to share negative experiences they had. Bet you wouldn't mind telling someone you got a cold hamburger from mcdonalds or they didn't put your fries in again....vendors may be nice but ultimately they want to get paid son....

If you had a brown paper bag containing 4 hamburgers from different stores wrapped in plain, unmarked paper and 3 of the hamburgers were great and one was cold, you wouldn't tell everyone that either McDonald's or Burger King or Wendy's or Jack in the Box gave you a cold hamburger.

If you run around telling people "one of these 4 vendors uses a bad credit card processing company" the vendors' loyal customers will stick with them but you will scare off a few potential customers. So, if you don't know, don't accuse them.

I got hammered for a week after a negative post about suppliers. Vapers seem to be some of the most trusting people on the planet. Probably people associated with suppliers, but they sure drowned my comments out fast.

One my of my cards I have a program on my computer that makes one time use numbers. So if I am going to buy something online, I can just click it, log in, and create a number. The number only works once, at the place I intended to use it. If it gets used after that it won't work. It also expires in 30 days or something like that too.

I think all cards should have this feature, it would really cut down on the problems IMHO.

Who is the provider? I'd like to check out that feature, it sure would minimize CC fraud.

A. I may be dumb but I'm not following your logic with the burgers. If I had 4 hamburgers from 4 different stores I'm probably the hamburgler.

But, if I ordered 4 hamburgers from 4 stores and one was cold why would I return to the cold when I have three other choices available? Then your friend says ooh lets get a burger from the store you got the cold one from. Do you say ya bro go for it hi five, or do you say, last time i ate there it was cold and nasty if it was me I'd go somewhere else.

I didn't say run around telling people I said share your experience, people around here don't wanna say anything bad about vendors...I got pet hair or an expired bottle or all my cartos were bad but I don't want to mention any names. Huh? Why? That's not slamming anybody that's just the truth even if its a mistake. And likewise praise them when they do have good customer service. Not just be part of the team. They want your money

B. I didn't say anything about the credit card processing. Doesn't really matter. If you only bought from them and you share that info there's nothing wrong with being honest and telling your story.

C. Scare off potential customers? Oh you mean by giving them the truth and letting them make their own decisions. Why would we want to let them do that lol

D. There is a Carl's Jr by my work that is open 24hours in Rancho Cucamonga on foothill. I've gone there 3 times at 4:30am and noone answers and it pisses me off. I don't drop by there anymore but I have warned people not to go there so they don't sit there like idiots too. I bet if somebody knowingly sells crappy disgusting juice at a gigantic mark up you would want to know especially if you are new to ecigs and don't know anything, how much more so if their cc number was stolen while using a particular vendor.

And just for fun I got a burger with pickles on it and I hate pickles. I said please no pickles. I was driving and as soon as my teeth hit the pickle I said yuck and threw it right out the damn window

Dear Hamburgler:
My point was that if the burgers were unidentified you wouldn't tell people "one of these 4 fast food restaurants serves cold burgers" but if you purchased from 4 e-cigarette vendors and you were a victim of credit card fraud that's exactly what you would be doing. You'd be posting "one of these 4 vendors uses an insecure credit card processing company and I wuz robbed."

In the case of credit card fraud, which is the subject of this thread, you don't know which company's data was compromised so the correct thing to do is notify all of them so they can determine if their company is the problem.

It would be different if you had only used that credit card once in the last 6 months and there was no doubt as to which company had its data stolen. Even then I think the right thing to do is contact the company first so they can fix the problem. If they don't, you can post the whole thing, including what they did about it. (Don't forget, you may not quote private emails verbatim.)

When you receive a product that does not work as it is supposed to*, you know which company has the problem. In that case, the appropriate course of action is to contact the company, tell them the problem and see what they say. If their answer is "not our problem" then, by all means post that info on the forum.

*The exception is items for which "no warranty" or "no guaranty" is stated on the website. I'm always amazed at how many people think that means "no warranty for anyone but me."

If you see a CC company offering "Shop Safe" that's the same thing.

I use mine for all on-line purchases and only had one problem so far with someone else getting the number after my initial purchase. I canceled the card number (I can do that myself) and the problem went away. The initial vendor was paid since he was the first one to use it, so there was no problem there.

I have to agree that once it's been narrowed down to one, then that vendor/site should be named. I would certainly like to know which places people have had problems w/, but I don't want the 1 in 4 lists. There are ways of narrowing it down, but until that's done then I don't expect to see a list of all the people you just bought from.
And when vendors don't respond to emails where they've been informed that there might be a data breach, then I think that may indicate their own fear, imho.
I really try to find one or two vendors that I can buy most of my stuff from b/c I hate making multiple online purchases. That really is near impossible, but I'm getting there.

I am not a fan of the reloadable card fees, either. Sorry, but I need that extra money for the ridiculous gas prices that surge everytime one of the commodities traders sneezes. :glare:

There is no doubt a Vaping supplier has Credit Card Fraud problems. I have ONLY used my bank account debit card for vaping supplies in the last 2 weeks for online purchases, and in the last 3 days I have had 7 fraud purchases. I have fraud purchases from Navyfield, Vopium, and Charity water (1st fraud, must been testing). Total $215, I'm glad my account went into the negative which raised the redflag. Please be careful when using a bank account debit card, and Vendors please check your security. Please do a better job in policing yourselves and staff access to card numbers. I have only bought from well known vendors and I won't single out. If it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone.

Added: Use either a credit Card or goto the store and buy a pre-paid card or gift card, then buy supplies. I think my bank guarantees only $300, so I should be ok, but will be a while before i get that money back.

The weak point isnt the supplier .. Its the cheap india credit card processing we Americans love so much :)
I had the same issues with electric heli suppliers. Luckily the bank stopped the transaction because I never make 500.00 purchases online lol.

Wow, I got hit too and same as others. Been using my card on-line for years without problem, then get into e-cig purchases and BOOM, hit for over $1k in fraudulent purchases! Thing is, I only purchased from one vendor so sounds like we've got it narrowed down. I am going to contact that vendor immediately and hope for a positive response. Glad this thread was here to help narrow down the culprit!
