Cinnamon is good for throat hit but can be irritating. I would expect some coughing but the cinnamon might make it worse. Maybe try a different flavor and see if that helps.

Don't beat yourself up for wanting a cigarette. When I was trying to quit, I would still crave them but it didn't take long for them to start tasting bad to me. It was more that I felt like I should be smoking for the ritual of it. Everyone is different though and as long as you are trying, you are taking a step in the right direction.

No biggie. I dual used for for close to 2 years. I just wanted to cut back at first. Year two was when I made a real attempt to quit... still took awhile though. athousandyears has good advice on rotating your liquids. Finding that all day vape/near all day vape can be difficult. Your taste in liquid may change over time also.

Also, when you find a liquid you like, you may want get another one at about half the nic level of the previous. Mainly to cut the first ones nic level. When I went to a new device I had a big time head rush... cut the nic level in half and things have been good. Some flavors for me no matter the nic level give me a head rush though.

Blast you flavors!

I'm about 2 1/2 months into vaping and my taste buds are coming back fine...especially with the bean and cheese taco with hot red sauce I'm having right now. I noticed them perking up after a couple of weeks. I had a Peach Tea flavor and I could taste the peach and the tea as separate.

So tell me this.....Is it true that your taste buds also make a comeback when you quit smoking? I've heard that smoke deadens the taste buds and when you quit, food tastes amazing. Also, does the vape have a smell? Right now I wreak of cig smoke. Will I wreak from vape?

try something simple to start, go to the local liquor store, or small mom & pop style place and see what they have to offer, theyre quite easy to find nowdays. I have to recomend that if your trying to quite and switch to ecig use completely dont switch to blu's or any of those cartidge style smokes. Use a vapor style with a refillable tank. Get some tobacco flavored juice for it, and give that a try. I find that for being fairly cheap at about $25 out the door for the vapor pack and a bottle of juice, those kind can get you the taste, and that sensation you have when the smoke hits your throat and lungs (which is the best part for me).

I started with a white rhino one, but just bought one called Blow One. I like that one much better. still only $20 and they come with the battery, tank, and charger.

Hope this might help you make a good choice.

Okay, so for the first time in over 25 years, I DID NOT HAVE A CIGARETTE after a meal! I vaped after lunch today. So psyched.

I do find the vape "smoke" a bit harsh right now. I guess I will have to experiment with different juices. Are some not as harsh but still provide a decent throat hit or is everything with a decent throat hit harsh?

Like someone else posted, cinnamon flavors are probably the source of your harshness. Maybe switch out to another one that doesn't have that flavor. I use RY4 exclusively at 24mg and have great TH with no harshness. Up the VG content if that doesn't help. VG will help mellow out the PG which determines TH in juices. Keep at it and you'll find one that works for you. :)

Make sure you drink plenty of water. Vaping really sucks the water out of your system, and this can make your throat more sensitive (causing the harshness).

Also, you can pick up a bottle of USP glycerine at almost any pharmacy or walmart; try adding just a bit to try and mellow out the juice.

(Of course, vaping a juice called "Flame Thrower" I'm not surprised it's pretty harsh! ;-)

RY4 is legendary in the vaping community UGA81 and almost every vendor has their own version. I'm not going to get into a history lesson but here's a link to a thread totally devoted to the flavor with awesome reviews and great breakdowns of each vendors offering. It's quite a read so have fun. And remember, everyone has their favorites and loves to suggest them to other people. But being the individuals we are, someones great usually turns out to be someone elses rotten. Always best to experiment until you find what works for you. :)

And check out this link to the page where Bill does his ranking of his favorites and also lists the attributes of each RY4 he has sampled. Great info for anyone interested in this flavor.

If you don't like the RY4 tobaccos, check out Halo's Torque 56. I quit smoking using that one. Their Malibu became my all day vape, but the Torque really grew on me quickly. Halo are generally recognised for their tobaccos, and there's plenty to choose from.

Regarding hardware, I bought a heap of different stuff over the last month, and have settled on the EVOD Glass tanks on top of EVOD batteries. Looks great, works perfectly. Simple to use and maintain, unlike the Halo Triton - top wicks are just a pain in the ..... never again.

Same here, just starting looking into this stuff, all very confusing.. but this is what I am looking for too the 'throat hit' all reviews seem to go on about flavour... yeah would be good to have same flavour as real cigarette, but it's totally the throat hit I am looking for above everything else. Anyone relate to this who is experienced please give us atleast a starting point of what we should be looking for and advice on what to buy...I don't need to know tech detail just what is a good kit to buy given that I am a regular 20 per day smoker. Too much info. and it's overwhelming and I don't want to have to go through trying loads of stuff costing lots of money else there is no point. Thanks for any advice.

For someone just starting to look at upgrades and wants something simple nothing beats an MVP and a Protank. With the VV/VW of the MVP you can dial in warmth, TH, and flavor. Plus it has a great battery that lasts a long time. Pair that with the ease of the Protank and you got a winning combo. It's what I started with after struggling with eGo type setups and it made a world of difference. I've since upgraded again but still keep my MVP/ Protank around as a backup.

I too just started Vaping less than 2 months ago after 40+ years of smoking either Camel Filters or Viceroy in the old days. Got started (due to a neighbor) with a MOD and the big batterys/charger etc.... and a Kanger aero tank (spent couple hundred bucks). I did NOT get any tobacco flavored juice - but rather Honeydew and Cantaloupe as that's what the neighbor had and both were light and fruity....

I HAVE NOT SMOKED (after 43 yrs) since I started Vaping- I even TRASHED a CARTON - and I think its due to the light fruity flavors as opposed to trying to "match" the flavor of smoking..... IMO

I had a nasty experience going to altitude enroute to Fly Fish for a weekend with friends..... and ended up then buying and EGO-c with a Mini Nova tank in a cheap $39. starter kit at a Colorado Vape shop....

IF I were starting over - I would not change much - except might have saved a few $$ had I been smarter....

I think - any of the EGO style starter kits (2 batteries probably a must) with a decent Tank attachment with replaceable coils is a great place to start.... and you can easily be set up and vaping for well under $100.

I am happy with my MOD set up and use it 99% of the time but - the EGO set up draws and produces just as well - just doesn't hold as much and battery doesn't last as long :)

Happy Vaping from another Newbe and thanks to this site I have learned a TON just in the past few days :2cool:
