When I was at your stage, Mr. Lockaby answered me with this: 4 Stages of Vaping - YouTube

It didn't change my mind but it prepared me for when my mind changed itself. Not everybody changes their style, we are all kinds of different vapers here, living in all difference circumstances. But the cartoon was 100% prophetic for me!

LOL "more vapor"

I love my little 78mm Volts. I use them when I'm out and about. I use my X2s at work or when I'll be somewhere for any length of time. I use a Zenesis mini at home. I think each type of e-cig has its time and place, and without the 78mm cig-a-likes, I wouldn't have even started vaping. Eventually once you're over smoking altogether, you don't care anymore if it looks or feels like smoking as long as the flavor and vapor is there.

Nope, you are not alone. I use my Blu and I love it. I also bought an ego c and twist. I still prefer my Blu. I think the form factor just suits me better. I'm still fairly new at this, though. Been just a little over 5 weeks since I quit analogs. My goals are probably different than most here. I hope to give up nic and vaping, as well.

Lol, pretty good... For now though, I'm still pretty happy with my volts and CE3's, but only time will tell lol...

Honestly I KINDA think it's an effect of being on this forum LOL. Seriously, people who don't know about this forum use the cig-a-likes happily for their entire "vaping career". I think the advancement is an effect of seeing the APV's and how much better the vape is in videos, and hearing people rave about them all the time... And of course once you HAVE one, you know how much better they are and it's hard to go back...

Seriously... When I first started it was a V4L kit, and I LOVED it. It was great, tasted great, I was happy. BUT now that I have a Provari, I can't use one of those things... They only put out about 6 watts. There is a member here who refers to high wattage vapers as "reckless throat hit chasers". I now vape at about 10.5 watts. I think it's something to do with the body acclimating, because for me, 10.5 watts gives me a decent throat hit, but 6 watts, which used to be great, is completely untastable to me now.

I started with the cig style 6 weeks ago. After a week, I couldn't get the throat hit that I needed to get rid of the last 6 cigs a day. I got an eGo Twist and got down to one a day and 10 days ago I finally gave up the analogs. Bought a Provari this past Friday. It kind of becomes a hobby and it's been a lot of fun. More power to you if you can be satisfied with the cig alike.

It is all about quitting the cigarettes. If this keeps you happy, go for it.

That said, like many of the other posters here I wasn't getting enough out of it. I was chain vaping, and the batteries only lasted me an hour. Which at first was fine, since I had the box to charge them and the USB as well. But it got old fast! The prefilled carts were expensive and I was going through them quickly. I ran into a video on youtube showing how I could refill them, and so went to order some juice. That is when I found this site and learned that it wasn't ME, it was the delivery method. I had NO idea there were other things like eGo's and tanks etc.

So I looked and found what I was looking for. If you have what you are looking for then great!

Just remember that even if you decide to move up to a better battery and different, less expensive delivery system and juices, the option is yours. You use what is best for YOU.

I'm what, 7 weeks into this adventure? I am enjoying my 78mm Volt autos right now (I have 3 batteries - some days I get through the day on 2, some days 3, and some days 4. When one dies, I put it on the USB charger & grab one of the other 2 that are already charged...rinse...repeat.) I gave up on prefilled cartos very quickly (w/in a couple weeks) once I discovered all the great juice flavors available. I have exactly one clearomizer so far. I toy w/the idea of an X2 battery and probably will get one @ some point, but for now I'm happily vaping away w/my current setup. Based on the experiences of many around here, I won't say that I'll never "step up", maybe to a Twist or something, but I really can't see myself w/a tank, mod, etc. I don't think it's necessarily so much that I want it to look like a cigarette (I kind of hold it like a pipe rather than a cig), but that I like it to look somewhat low-key, compact, & discreet. That being said, I don't leave the house very often (work from home & homeschool my kids). For those that actually get out once in a while  I can see where battery life, etc. would definitely be more of an issue than it is for me.

I say whatever works for you - if that's a Provari, go for it! If that's a 65mm Volt or a Blu from Walgreen's, go for it! Anything to get away from smoking!

I was totally off analogs the day my Volts arrived. I did try one analog the 2nd day, but couldn't even finish it. Which is surprising since I have smoked nearly a pack a day for almost 20years now (holy f, started when I was a freshman in HS, where does time go, can't believe I can say I've done anything for 20years). I could taste the ammonia in the analog, and don't know what else, but it tasted horrible. Not even into tobacco liquid like I thought I would be anymore... Loving my Liquid Volt Mint! Can't wait till my VapeDudes samplers come in... 130ml of minty goodness lol!!!

When I started I had the exact same mindset as OP. I did Blus and SI Volts for about a year. I felt I had to replicate the smoking experience as much as possible. I would even take an ashtray with me to my favorite local bar that had just gone non-smoking. I eventually got tired of being glued to a charger all day, every single day. I wanted longer battery life. I also wanted lots more vapor. I weighed out all the pros/cons of different devices and mods and finally decided that even though it is the most expensive PV, in the end, the Provari is probably the best value out there. (This is based on my opinion on how I assign personal value to certain features.)

You may have a point there. I started with the cig style and it was important that it looked like a cigarette. Graduated to pen style when I no longer cared that it looked exactly like a cigarette. But those were the only choices available then. I WOULD have stuck with either choice but you had to do so much fiddling with them to eke out some satisfaction. NOTHING helped erratic battery performance except buying new batteries.

I quit vaping in frustration.

When I returned to vaping a few months later the "big battery" boys had taken over. The eGo sized battery seemed to be the cure. Then came the call for "more vaper". I wasn't completely satisfied until I summoned the nerve to order a Provari.

But back to your point...a co-worker reluctantly picked up a cig style when the job enacted a ban that prohibited smoking anywhere on the property. He's just going to use it to get through the day.

Next week he's in love with it. Extremely satisfied.

Week three, he's anxiously awaiting delivery of his NEW pv.

What happened? A fellow vaper allowed him to try something other than a cig style.

Poor fellow. There's no hope for him now....

I guess there are many who started with the cig-like devices and stayed with them, happily. But if you hang out with us long enough, you'll start to change too. If you're happy with what you are using now... leave, run, far away LOL. :D

But seriously.. whatever anyone has, as long as it works for them.. it's all good. :)

wow, that is the truth lol. this forum sometimes has me wanting things that I don't even know what they are, or what they are for ! I resist however :)
I've been vaping for a year and half. I still use the joye 510 and ego I started with. when I am on the computer I drip using the ego. but the rest of the day I use the joye 510. I carry and vape on 3 pvs. I like to use different flavors and by carrying 3 around I only have to charge them once a day. when charging those 3 I use the other 3 in the rotation. I wouldn't mind trying a reo but at this point I am too poor. plus like I said, I vape 3 different flavors all day (and drip all kinds on the ego) so I'm one of those who never moved up :)

i was like you when i started. i got a larger ego twist battery to start, only because it reminded me of a black and mild (which i loved). i actually "quit" smoking with my wife five years ago, but it seemed like every few months we would have some friends over for drinks and then get the bright idea to buy a pack of cigs. and end up having ten a piece in one evening. thats what made me try the vaping thing. anyway, i thought the twist would be enough for me forever, but after looking for juices online, reading forums and seeing all of things that are available, i caught the bug and am now waiting for my 3rd vv device in the mail. i have been vaping for 6 months and have had no more drunken cigarette purchases!

in closing, i do agree that i have spent WAY more money on vaping supplies (approx. $400 so far on devices, juices and accesories). i guess its kind of become a hobby that i'm addicted to...he he. just my personal experience. i THINK you will get there too. just a guess.

Not sure what cigarettes cost in Ohio, but I know that I would have spent well over $800 in six months on them here in FL for my PAD habit.

Congratulations on getting off the cigs, and I do not think you should feel guilty about spending some $$$ on your new healthier hobby.
