I like this stuff a lot. RBA Supplies. They just renamed it, it is now called Ready x Wick. It used to be called XC-116 and only came in 3mm size. Now comes in 2mm size also. This is the only place I buy it, it has to be heat treated at high temperatures for something like twelve hours. You can get the untreated stuff a lot cheaper but don't do it. The 2 mm works well for the Sophia and Diver V2, the 3mm does very nicely in my drippers.

Looks interesting...eight dollars a foot though?...is it that much better than cotton?

I've read quite a few posts about using hemp string/rope...but with the hemp rope I've bought before has been too tightly branded (or however they make the hemp fibers come together). You would probably have to rough it up some to loosen the fibers to get good wicking properties from it.

Also try boiling your wool. I also haven't tried this myself but it's supposed to improve it's taste.

do you do standard wraps not micro coils with these?

A length of the wick could last you weeks if not months. You can burn clean this stuff straight back to white. Not my wick of choice but can't beat it's longevity.

As far as other alternatives, people have had good luck with hemp twine. It's does need to be cleaned very well though.

When I used this wick, I used it in a Geni-Style rebuildable and did a standard wrap each time. Micro's don't play well with this wick unless you build directly on it. Cotton for me is the only way to go with Micro's.

I just got in and boiled some organic cotton/hemp blend from modnworld. I'm going to use it in my Kayfun and see how it goes. Just over 15 feet of it for 4 dollars. I want to stay away from silica myself. I have organic cotton as well. Trying a few alternatives. I did see the reviews on that readyxwick and sounds like it might be alright, even given the price. If it's a clean wick and lasts for a long time, might be worth it.

I only use cotton, but I've considered ordering this and bamboo fiber.. I'm perfectly fine with cotton..even if I have to rewick pretty often.

Pretty much how I feel...if saturated well and made properly I dont see why you would be getting such a harsh throat hit. Maybe the throat hit is more from coil placement and or nic? I use only organic cotton balls or CVS sterile rolled cotton and have had good flavor from both with no harsh throat symptoms. I do like the sterile rolled cotton slightly though.

I'm currently watching a YouTube video on a guy using cheese cloth as a wick. I personally haven't used it, so I can't vouch if it's a good alternative or not.

Not sure if I saw the same video but yeah, it was a tutorial for using cheesecloth in a rebuildable atomizer. Bought some a while back and forgot about it, then was going through the toolchest and saw it again. Just re-wicked my Kayfun 3.1 clone with a 2x2"-ish square rolled up into itself, and it's performing very much like cotton. At first I wasn't very confident it would work at all since I was trying to soak it right after I installed it and it wasn't really soaking up as fast as cotton.

Filled up the tank about halfway, waited a few minutes to make sure it was saturated enough, then had a vape. It performed almost identically to cotton and I dare say it even produces a little more vapor. Will do some more experimenting with it. The only other "cheap" materials I have yet to try (bought some of that RDA ceramic wick but haven't used) are bamboo and hemp, still not sure where to buy those.

I've done a couple of wicks with surgical gauze. I roll it into a wick about 3mm in diameter, wrap the coil around it tight and comb out the loose strands with a needle. Easier than it sounds. Wicking takes a little bit more than than cotton at first but levels in a few minutes. Tastes great!

I have used the ready wick and the Ekowool and at least to me the Ekowool had a cleaner taste and lasts just about as long. I can use a piece of Ekowool at least a dozen times before it starts to fall apart. If you can afford 8 bucks a foot, have at it.

I like surgical gauze too. Clean taste, only negative thing I can find , is that on some builds it can be a bit harder to shape than reg cotton. You might try the Peaches and Cream cotton yarn , I hear nothing but great things from real juice aficionados. Its cheap too.

This!! ^ ^ ^:)
I just re-wicked my IGO-L's with ReadyxWick....just wrapping a single coil (~1.5 ohm) on a 3/64" mandrel...this wick is kinda brittle - I "cut" through the first 1/2" piece I wound on - so coils need to be just a BIT "loose", but can still be close-spaced....
My PT2/Minis still get the cotton treatment, though....MUCH easier to thread cotton THROUGH a coil than RW!!;)
Happy (vaping) Trails!
