between here and there
Everything I seem to make just tastes burnt and not very flavourful. I've made some of the top rated recipes on www..................... such as mothers unicorn milk, strawberry fog and a few others but everything seems to just not taste that great. I've used different vg and pgs, tried every probably every different steeping method, glass and plastic bottles but yet nothing seems to have a nice flavour and everything has a weird almost burnt taste to it. Only thing I can think it might be is that I'm using a kanger Dripbox and it's burning the juice but off the shelf stuff tastes fine. I make my own coils and use cotton bacon to wick, make a new coil for every juice but yet still not a nice taste :/

Do you otherwise like the ejuice you have made? Have you tasted it in another device? It sounds to me that maybe you don't like the vendors version of the flavors. Not all same type of flavors taste alike. Each vendor that makes the ejuice flavor has their own take on what they think taste good.
May be a good idea to start again making some of the ingredients as single flavors to see if you even like the way it taste. ie. You may like caps strawberry better than say TFA?

If store bought ejuice tastes and wicks fine in your device then it doesn't sound like it is the device being messed up, it sounds more like you don't like the taste of your own ejuice. Finding what you like and what works for you takes time and effort when making your own. We have all had to go through this same type of vetting for ourselves.

Get yourself a dripper to test flavors.

Also you might try and sample a different type of cotton or wicking.

Start with the smallest samples you can to find the ones you like.

Good luck and let us know.

:)

You mention Strawberry Fog and Mothers Unicorn Milk. Both failures for me also. What I found after some trials is that TFA VC and I don't get along at all.

I tried with CAPS VC v2 which is God awful to me but v1 seems to be real nice - has the nasties in it though.

Just a thought.

Just a thought ... does it clear up for a few hits after a thorough wick saturation? Maybe you already answered that. It all sounds like juice is being vaporized faster than the wicking can resupply the coil.
No, doesn't matter how wet the wick is, maybe burnt is thee wrong word if I'm honest, it's like a dirty taste and it's just not smooth at all.
I've just had a smok alien kit delivered today so I'll update tomorrow, wether it's my dripbox that is upsetting the mixes.

I've tried equipment that is supposedly alright that to me has a slight burning taste that a stronger juice could disguise. Or the dripbox could be running too hot with no quick way to try different -- does it help if the batteries are weak or firing only short pulses or drawing even harder? If so add another coil wrap. I've also had issues with some cream flavors tasting burnt though. Or mix could be too strong, if it's tasting "dark" and a big cluster. DIY juice often has more bite.

The way I wick my RDA is to have cotton touching the coil leads all the way to the posts. Might not need it for removing the cap and dripping carefully, but "messy" dripping such I do through the drip tip hole, or squonking, gets it all over the wire.

In the last coil I made for my dripbox, it did make abit of a difference for the better but since having the smok alien, everything tastes smooth and full of flavour, the clouds are much more densise and it's just all round more of a pleasant vape. I had a few problems with the dripbox, button sticking, not charging, not firing so tbf now I've got the smok kit, the dripbox is going away
