Using ceramic wick and the resistance wire that came with the T2. Did I mention this is my first build ever? :)

3/2 wrap. Using my two Vamo V2 mods to test resistance.

Both Vamos do the same thing: I attach the atty, turn on the Vamo, check ohms without pulsing the coil and I get as high as 3.0. But, once I pulse the coil, one Vamo reads it as 1.8, the other at 1.9. Anything to worry about?

My other question: the wraps go orange evenly when I fire up, don't think I have any hot spots, but it does glow orange all the way down to the negative screw, even though I have a kink right by the negative screw. Is this OK?

I'll be using this on my Segelei #8, and I have tested the coil on the #8 with no problems.

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Do you mean the whole leg from the coil to the negative screw? That would be a hot leg. I run my bottom leg from the neg screw flat against the bottom and do a wrap keeping most of the leg grounded till it gets to the wick. Also if you do find that you are getting a hot leg from the positive post buy a 2.5mm ss washer from menards.

Hiding your hot leg like that makes it really hard to see the real problem (which you will taste). Don't forget to mention that you have a hidden hot leg @ your neg. post, when you ask questions about why it tastes like ess later. Happy Vapes! :)

edit: I should mention that, with a properly installed coil, you should see no glowing coils which aren't in direct contact with the wick. Hiding the symptom will not result in a properly wrapped coil. With ceramic, the problem usually stems from not coiling tightly enough. Those wicks require the tightest imaginable coil (preferably "melted" onto the stone)

ooooooooh. That's different. Your coil is glowing to the ends because you don't have enough coil shape in the middle. 2/3 wrap; wow, that must be some weensy wire they sent you. When you get the chance, get some 30g wire, and give yourself a solid 4/5 or 5/6 wrap. I double over the head of my nextel, and do a 5 wrap of 26 or 28 gauge (for low resistance). (3mm nextel, not 1.5mm)

If you want to try different gauges (yes), you can order 10' ("small") quantities of Nichrome wire w/ free shipping from Jacobs Online - Nichrome Wire. It's about $2.50 per gauge. Nichrome is of lower resistance than Kanthal by a factor of "1". 30 gauge Nichrome is equivalent to 29 gauge Kanthal.

32g ~ 1.3-1.7Ω
30g ~ .9-1.2Ω
28g ~ .7-1Ω

↑ w/ 4-7 wraps of Nichrome

Guessing
