TFA's Absinthe is one of very few flavors I like all by itself. FA's Anise is another. The two don't taste very different to me, though the Anise is a stronger concentrate. I'm sticking with Absinthe now because it contains no PG, and I'm trying to go PG-free.
Lots of 2-flavor blends have been good with Absinthe. I've liked it with peppermint, spearmint, wintergreen, or lime. I haven't liked it with berries, but I know that's a favorite of many.
I have three ideas to try soon: with coconut and vanilla, with ginger, and as a mandarin-chai-tea ingredient.
What do you mix with Absinthe or Anise? What's the wildest combination you've liked? Just looking for ideas here...
My favorite (at the moment) is Green Mamba (by going to the site it's easier to read than my copy/paste below):

We used TFA Watermelon and thought we were using TFAs Honeydew (originally purchased at VZ - non-concentrated line). But after reading that VZ rebrands from many vendors in that line, we ordered TFA's Honeydew (and it is nothing like VZ's - yet in a later email, VZ swears it's TFA :::eyeroll NOT::

. But wethinks any 'tried n' true' Honeydew would work. We used 7% Absinthe; 1% Anise FA; 2.5% Honeydew and 2% Watermelon TFA...and we've made it with both TFA and DV Absinthe. DV is better (more to come on that below).
This one's one the "to make" list (after we figger out what we'd like to sub for the rum): e-Liquid Calculator :: DIY Green Goblin

We've got three Absinthe creations of our own that we'll be making in the next few days (both based on DV's Absinthe). If they turn out good, we'll post the recipes. They're pretty bizarre, so there's a chance they won't be vapable, let alone 'postable'. (We're also making your White Chocolate Truffle/Cappuccino in that session...'been looking forward to that one for TOO long!

)
'Not surprised to hear you sense that FA's Anise and TFA's Absinthe are similar. Awhile back I was on the TFA and noticed the Absinthe was out-of-stock in the Bulk section...and they had posted a note and link to a site where one could get a substitute - and it was for straight Star Anise essential oil. Us: "Really? Your Absinthe is straight Star Anise & nothing more?" :::sigh:::
Now I see some of the listing say "Star Anise and natural flavorings", but one of them still doesn't.
We've since ordered/sampled DV's much acclaimed Absinthe...oh yeah, it's full of nuances that are definitely missing from TFAs. We got it at Liberty Flights. From DVs description:
... is made with over 20 herbs and spices, carefully blended to recreate the luxurious aniseed and wormwood flavour beloved of poets and artists, madmen and lovers. Go on, unleash your inner Bohemian!
Also - with DV's Absinthe, the anise is less intense due to the myriad of supporting flavors. It's absolutely AWESOME as a stand-a-lone at 5-6% (less actually works; we just liked it best at 5-6%). BUT if using it mixes that "need" the anise intensity of the TFA *Absinthe* - we recommend adding .5% the FA Anise.
We'll let you know how the new ones turn out as soon as they're ready to test vape!
