Hi All
Well, I have become a big proponent of using Blue Foam and have found 2 favorite best methods for vaping now. I have for some time been using Blue Foam with 510 cartridges and Straw mod and more recently ordered SmartCarts from GotVapes.com and used the Blue Foam with those with EXCELLENT results.
What I didn't realize until very recently is that Blue Foam is not always Blue Foam! What I mean to say is I have obtained blue foam from 3 sources now - On the internet from a site that sells nothing but Blue Foam, from my local PetCo that sells it in several forms for aquarium filters and from a place that sells E-Cig supplies and sells pre-cut pieces in the exact size (they think is right but not me!) for moding 510 cartridges including other pre-cut sizes for other cartridges.
I noticed last night that after cutting a few Blue Foam pieces for SmartCarts to the exact dimensions that I had come up with in the past to work perfectly with them that when I vaped with a SmartCart with one of my exactly cut pieces that it was flooding a bit and I was getting some liquid in my mouth. When using pieces cut exactly as I had done in the past this had never happened before!
On closer inspection I looked at samples of some of the Blue Foam from all 3 sources and they were entirely different! By that I mean that all 3 were of different texture and porosity from being very fine to coarse! Experimenting I found one of those - the finest textured to work MUCH better in both of the ways that I did mods - on 510 cartridges and the Smart Carts. The pieces I had cut yesterday were with a very coarse Blue Foam and not near as dense. As a side bar - This more coarse Blue Foam still works - It just has to be cut a little larger so that when compacted in the cartridge it exhibited similar characteristics.
So there you go. I'm sure most of you are smarter than me and have known this forever but if not I just wanted to put this out there for all to consider and to be beware of. The type that worked best for me was a little more expensive but still reasonable that I got from this place Blue Foam for Electronic Cigarette cartridges - I bought the ones for 510 cartridges but cut them down a bit smaller and used them for both the 510 cartridges and the SmartCarts.
I would love to hear any one elses input on this and also hear from anyone that has a source for Blue Foam that works especially well for them or is the most economical to buy!
Thanks So Much - Melvin - texanandproud
