Now that I drip predominantly, I can't use anything with more than 30% PG. I get sick. It's something about dripping vs. tanks that makes the juice more pronounced. Not only the flavors but the base as well. I get headaches, sore throat, chest pain and nausea if I try to drip a 50/50 blend. Since I realized I have a PG sensitivity, I've decided to use as little of it as possible. So that's why I personally will not be making or ordering juices that have more PG than a 70vg/30pg blend. And I don't like throat hit.

VG has a sweeter taste to most people so the juice maker may be using more VG to enhance some flavorings.
Thanks, I'm a couple weeks into vaping which has eliminated 80% of my cigs starting on day one. To reduce them further I need to get past some negative reactions to the fluids which are slight queasyness, slight headache. These may pass without any special attention but I'm trying to learn the fine points. I was clueless about vaping until a few weeks ago. It's a powerful tool. I want it to be a success for me.

    More PG=thinner, less vapor production
    More VG=Thicker, more vapor production

Although you can also attribute flavor properties and throat hit "oopmh" to more or less of one or the other, you can also change the throat hit from nic levels, and you can change flavor by adding more or less.

I personally don't like anything higher than 50% PG. From that point, I dont care what the liquid ratio is. Even I vape almost exclusively on subohm built RDAs, I goal is not clouds. Im after that dense, moist lung fill. And Ive got plenty of 50-50% liquids which can do just that. Ive also got plenty of Max VG liquids which can do that.

For me, throat hit mostly comes from nicotine content and the heat of the vapor. If you vape liquids very high in PG, like 70-80-90%, you'll get throat hit from the PG as well, but its not the same kind of throat hit as what the nicotine provides. For me, its an irritating, sharp, unpleasant smack in the throat that makes me want to cough, as opposed to smooth, deep, satisfying throat note. Thats what I call it.. a throat note.

Also.. PG is often said to carry flavor better. IT does.... BUT, DO NOT automatically attribute that to liquids made up of more PG having more flavourful vapor. If that was the logic, 80%VG liquids would be bland and dull, yet Ive got plenty of mostly VG liquids which are powerfully flavourful.

End of the day, what it comes down to, the liquid ratio SHOULD BE DETERMINED by the mixer. Everything about how the liquid is made will affect how it tastes and feels. If you have a recipe for an amazing liquid which is 6mg and 50-50, and you want to make that same liquid at 18mg and 70/30, you cant simply just add more nice and change the ratio... you need to work up an entirely different formula.. and its very possible you will never replicate the exact flavor at two different ratios and nic levels.

(This is part of the reason I generally turn my nose up at such liquid vendors who allow you to so called, "customize" your liquid, by telling them exactly how much Vg, Pg, Distilled H20, Nicotine, and Flavor shots the liquid should contain. How in the hell could they put out a consistent "banana bread" to every customer, if every customer wants an entirely different liquid? Its a rhetorical question.)

What part of Michigan? I'm in GR
SE Michigan. In the past 2 1/2 weeks vaping has kept my cigs at 3-5 per day, a great accomplishment. I won't try to get rid of those last few until I get over a mild queasy reaction to the vapor. It might pass by itself or may be the blend can be adjusted. My starting nic level was 2.4. After a few days was reduced to 1.8, now down to .6 and starting tonight I'll try .3. Apparently I'm very efficient at absorbing nic from vapor. I'm vaping much less on much lower nic levels and still feel over medicated.

VG is actually very sweet, which is why I use very little of it. When I was buying liquid I always got at least 70% PG, now that I'm making my own it is usually 80-90% PG. And I get plenty of vapor. If you like sweet flavors then high VG is probably fine, though some people have sensitivities to VG as well. That, and PG has been tested as safe for inhaling in medical inhalers and stage fog machines.

OK,,,you've learned about pg/vg. I just wanted to say that "a couple of weeks": and you're still detoxing. So your headache/quesyness could be due to simple nicotine withdrawal. What mg nicotine did you start with?

They advertise some of the flavors are 70% VG and some are 50% VG. What are the reasons for choosing one or the other percentage? Is there a thread or post summarizing the chemistry issues?

There's a huge difference.. I'm your basic vapor and if you just have the basic tools to vape, you don't want the high VG. Anything over 50% is too much for stock coils. VG is for the "CLOUDS" and drippers. If you're just trying to quit smoking...go for flavor and ease. A 70 pg/ 30 vg is awesome. It's kept me off the "icky stix" for 3 months now.
