hi, my name is cheryl and i am brand new to this forum. also, new to these e-cigs. i have bought the cheaper e-cigs in the past, finally layed down some big bucks (to me) on a 30 watt battery, it's supposed to be a kangerTech, but looks exactly like the eleaf, and a kangerTech subTank nano.
it worked great for a month, then started burning the juice bad. so i changed the occ then it wouldn't draw or vape. so i put another ohm occ in and it wouldn't draw or vape. i am on my third ohm occ and it won't draw or vape. it i set the watts high, it seems to start burning, but no vape. i think all of the ohm occ's are bad!
i use 1.5 ohm and have set my watts from 10 to 20 to try to fix the no vape problem, nothing works. i use 24 mg nic.
does anyone else have these problems with the subtank nano ohms? how can i fix this problem so that i don't burn juice or get no vape with no draw??
my ohms are kangerTech also. is there a better ohm occ to buy out there that will work consistently the same? these occs i've got are all different and act differently. the only occ that worked was the original that came with the subtank.
i am on a strict budget, so want to make this one work if i can and not have to invest in a new e-cig.
thanks!

So my first thought would be to ensure that you are installing your coils correctly. Assuming you are installing them correctly I would then ask if you are priming the wick. Essentially, if you dont let the juice soak into the wick well enough you could be just burning cotton. Once this happens your coil is fried and should be discarded.

Another possibility is that the connections need cleaning. I do not use regulated mods and so I wont give advice on cleaning the connectors there but Im sure someone will be able to help you out!

thanks for the info! yes, i have done the priming, which means i drop about 5 drops into the area where the coils and cotton is, and yes,i have the air flow set to med or high, which means i let a lot of air flow in.
i went to a different e cig store yesterday and this is what he did and said.
my nicotine is too high for a 1.2 ohm. he said go to .5 ohm and no higher than 12 mg nicotine, and set watts at 8 and up. he set it to 8, then to 10 and i tried it. i got lots of vape and it worked good for the moment. of course that doesn't mean it will work good a month from now! at least that is what i have found.
so for the moment, it's working okay. but, the vape is getting too hot for me at 8 or 10 watts, and i have the air flow open to the largest opening.
these things (e-cigs) are like a picky laptop! u have to know exactly all it's quirks and secrets!
according to kangertech on their subtank nano, you should not go below 15 watts (i think) with .5 ohm. so i keep getting different info from every where i go!!
but i guess the biggest surprise to me was that we have limits on how much nicotine you can use with different subtanks. i did not know that, and neither did the guy who sold me the subtank!
thanks!

with the watts; when you put in a fresh coil, always start low and work your way up.
Sometimes a fresh coil needs time to break in

The .5 ohm coil works best at around 20-25 watts on the subtank. This should give you a warm vape but not a hot vape. Using a coil with a resistance lower than 1 ohm is called sub-ohming. This allows you to set the wattage higher and get more clouds and a stronger vape, allowing you to lower the nicotine of your current juice, It is almost like getting a burst of nicotine rather than the just a little bit at a time. You can use whatever nicotine level you like, but over 12 mg may make you experience heart palpitations and feel ill, so your body will tell you if you need to lower your level of nicotine. If it makes you feel sick then lower it. If the .5 ohm coil is making the juice warmer than you like, I would suggest that you order the 1.2 ohm coils and set your wattage between 12 and 15. In my experience the 1.2 ohm coils don't last as long as the .5 ohm but with the lower wattage your vape will be cooler. The coils have the suggested wattage etched on them as well as a card came with the Subtank with wattage guidelines for each resistance coil. Follow those guidelines and it should work fine.

The Ecig store guy is wrong, 0.5 ohm runs best at higher power (subohm) and 24mg is too high to vape at high power. I recommend the 1.2 ohm vertical cotton coils at low power for 24mg juice. I bought some 1.5 ohm coils to try (horizontal coils) and they are terrible, giving a harsh vape.

Cheryl, where do you live? I would suggest going to a different vape shop. The mod you have is a eleaf istick 30w. Not a bad little mod and a great step up from an ego battery. I have no idea what is going on with the subtank and the coils. I use a subtank mini and love it. My first guess is that you got a bad batch of OCC coils. Maybe try ordering some from a reputable online vendor such as avid vaper to ensure you get authentics. Also, watch some YouTube videos on rebuilding the occ coils. You just need some cotton and its an easy rebuild. Hope you get it figured out!

There are tons of rebuild videos for the occ coil head. Here is one from the lovable Rip Tripper:

I have one of the Nanos with the .5 coil in it, and I was having issues with the hot factor too...I switched it to the 2 airhole setting and have it set at 16 watts which seems to work for me to keep it from getting too hot. Also, you can put a longer drip tip on it, and that helps some too.

Also the ratio on your juice will play a factor in how well these coils draw I've found out...especially if you chain vape like I do sometimes :) I've found it seems to work best with a 60vg/40pg juice. I normally use a 12mg juice in all of my other "normal" tanks, but I have had to cut down to 3mg for this subtank, so I know what you mean about the nicotine differences!
