i only use single coils but my deck allows me to use 2 coils. i'm not twisting the wire or using more than 1 wire per coil. just a single wire coil setup, one coil on each side of my deck: so, 2 coils total. please help if u can.

As suggested go straight to Steam Engine. A quick play with it will tell you that your 20g Kanthal is pretty much useless. Throw it away and buy some 28g to start off with. That will give you some flexibility. You can grab some higher and lower guages later when you get into the building groove! For example, 5 wraps of 20g Kanthal around say a 2mm drill bit will give yo something like 0.15ohm!!!! That is, by any standard, a super-subohm build and is not really for someone at an early stage of the game. Arguably, no-one should really be down there but plenty do...

So, be careful ok!! I would suggest keeping your builds around 1ohm to start.

What are you intending to fire the RDA on btw??

Hi mjkspeaks and welcome to the forum!

As was stated above, 20 guage is pretty thick wire and not very useful for coils - especially at a beginning stage, because it results in really low-ohm (fairly dangerous) coils.

By all means, get an ohm meter for building coils. Sounds like you intend to, and it's a good idea. It will let you check your deck before risking putting on your relatively expensive mod and having bad things happen. Good ones can be had for $20-$30.

Also, make sure you are using good batteries when getting into coil building.

For info on batteries Baditude has several excellent blog posts on the subject. His blogs on battery safety are a must read before you venture into the world of sub-ohm vaping.

Reliable sources for batteries:
Batteries-Chargers-Flashlights-Only The Best
Authentic AW Batteries - RTD Vapor
Illumn.com - Flashlights, Batteries, Carry Gear, Intelligent LED Lighting, and More!

Do not buy batteries from eBay or Amazon. Some of their third party sellers sell fakes.

... and finally, here's a link that explains things in pretty simple terms: Vaping Battery Safety & Ohms Law Illustrated and explained in very simple terms

Hope it helps and Happy Vaping!
