So I'm newer to the vaping scene. Started with an al85, up graded to a g-priv 220w 2 weeks ago. Today I had no choice but to leave the mod in my car for about 30 minutes while I was inside a facility where they would not allow me to bring it inside. I stashed it out of direct sunlight, but it was still 95 degrees here today. Anyways, came back out, hit the vape once and it froze up. Wouldn't do anything. Pulled the batterys back out and placed them back in and now I'm getting nothing except a line across the screen. Can't get it to turn on or anything. It's been babied, never dropped or anything. I can't find anyone posting a similar Issue anywhere on the net......has anyone had a similar Issue and know a resolution or did I just get a lemon? I've already contacted where I purchased from but have yet to hear back.... any help is appreciated.

Wait.. they wouldn't let you keep it in your pocket?! Do they confiscate cigarettes at the door too? Possible corporate/military/prison security building issue is the only reason they might be able to do that legally.
Is it possible that they have high energy emp type crud in the building that fries circuit boards?
Let's start with some basics though:

1. Have you turned it off and on?
Pull the batteries, verify their charge, and reinsert them.

2. Is it plugged in?
Tap the power button rapidly 6 times in succession. Then if you get black screen, do it again.

This is step 1 for any electronics

Your exactly right, it was a courthouse with a metal detector and an x ray machine. They won't even let me bring in a water bottle (probation for those of you who are wondering) I contacted the site I bought it from and they asked for a 20 second video, but my phone won't let me email a 20 sec video because it shoots too high def.....so I shot pictures of the mod with serial numbers. Here's a pic of what I'm experiencing and I've tried everything you've stated and more.....i tried to upload a picture of the mod but it keeps saying file is to large.....no matter how much I decrease the size/resolution

More of a dumb phone, the auto correct on this thing is horrible......its a Samsung s7 edge. I was hoping something like that wouldn't be the root of the issue HMT, but if it is than I guess I'll be .... out of luck.
That's a pretty smart phone actually. Dumb phones are things like flip phones
Ok, that's android. You,re going to need an image editor app to reduce the resolution of your phone pics. Iirc adobe has a free one for android that is pretty good.

I'm backing an RMA for a his one. An X-ray machine shouldn't mess up a circuit board and that line on your screen screams bad electronics to me.

We need a "My Smok is effed'd'd" Mega-thread.
My G-Priv and Alien are my main mods (out of 50+ I own) and they have both been rock solid for 7-8 months of heavy daily use.

Maybe I got lucky, but I will buy Smok mods and tanks whenever possible.

I know the phone is a smart phone, it was sarcasm......

Also....my al85 cranks all day and has never given me an issue. If be surprised if it's considered abuse if the box is suppose to have temperature protection. Hopefully it'll kick back on, I talked to a guy at a local shop who said his did the same thing when he had it outside with him at the pool. It just kept showing the same line and he took the batteries out, took it inside to cool off, and it bounced back. I love my SMOK tanks (all of them except the tfv12, I think that it was a waste of money) but my v8 and v8 baby's are great IMO. I'm at work, but I'm going to try slapping the batteries in it again when I get home. I hate to say it, even though it crapped out on me I'm more than likely going to buy another to replace it because I really did enjoy it while it worked:unsure:

Another smok that bit the dust, we must see a new, bad smok thread, every other day.

Many of which are attributed to abuse, user error/ignorance, deficient batteries, and/or the atty's attached..... no matter the brand of the mod.

Not all are bad I guess, because we have heard of very good things about them, but there are a ton of bad ones too and honestly out of all the mods I have seen on the forum, smok leads the pack in issues as of late....

Yea I'm about to order a new one. I had removed the batterys from the mod when it was left in the car and was allowed to bring those inside with me....so I did. I didn't want my Sony vtc5's in that heat for sure. And I love my SMOK devices, although I'm newer to the scene than most. I've also heard alot of people complain about them leaking but it's really an easy fix. With the tfv8 baby I never really had any leaking issues.....but with almost all my SMOK tfv8 coils, I usually have to flatten the coil ends every time I swap one in.

ouch... 95F in a car can lead to 125F... probably toasted the board, thermal over expansion and may have popped loose some SMTs.... let it cool off to 75F and see if it returns to service... if it doesnt, look into a new mod..
I can see a couple hrs in a car, but 1/2 hr? Most likely before leaving the car, the a/c was on and although it got hot, I don't think it should of been enough in that short of time to destroy the mod. I live in fl. And have left my phone and mods in my truck many times for a half hour and never had one destroyed

I don't think it was quite the time period.....because I came back out and the mod was warm/hot feeling. I slapped the batteries in and with in ripping 2 hits at 105w it froze up. I already ordered a new one, I disassembled it today and saw where there was slight melting on some sort of chip in there. I don't think the car temp did it, bit I think once I caped it on top of that temp it caused the damsge. Lesson learned. Plus a new color scheme had came out that I enjoy more anyways....i just hate to piss the money away. Hopefully the company I bought it from will send me a new one or fix it....but now that I tote it down a little I know I dug my own grave. I'm still going to try because regardless "smoks" temperature protection should have prevented this issue.....if it does indeed have it.
