Yes they are excellent batteries

No they aren't protected. They are supposed to be a safer chemistry than LI-Ion, not as volatile so if something does happen they will vent and give more warning rather than explode. They are also capable of much higher current than LI-Ion which is why you see them used alot in smaller battery situations or in mods with only one battery that has a boost circuit.

As long as your charger has over charge protection you can use any 3.7 Li-Ion charger on them.

If you're going to be using LR or DC with them then yes I'd recommend them, the higher current capability will be needed. If you're going to stick with mostly standard resistance then it would probably be better to get the protected AW, the black and silver ones. AW makes great batteries either way you go.

Not sure if AW makes a protected 18350, I use IMR so I haven't checked but I couldn't find any at lighthound.

The 16340 are great also, although slightly smaller so you'd need to check if they will fit your mod. They also come in IMR or Protected. The protected 16340 is the RCR123. What mod are you using them with? If its designed for 18350s then that's what I'd use. 16340s might work but they will be thinner and a wee bit shorter but not much.

I get my AWs from Lighthound or SuperTmanufacturing. There are other places as well in the suppliers forum. I think RTD is another place.

Depends on the situation. With smaller sizes like 14500 I prefer IMR because they are capable of a higher current draw and won't be stressed by LR or DC. When you get into larger sizes like 18650 then the protected AWs can provide enough current unless it's a situation where only one battery with a booster circuit is used like on the Provari then IMR is recommended.

That info was over my head :) I just don't batts to blow up in my face.. All I know is I use Lr's on 3.7v vaping, and regs or hr on 6-7v vaping. I don't really get what batts are good for what, but I do know I am supposed to use protected batts, and this one is not protected, but pp recommend them because they can handle more power and wont blow?
