What would I have done? Most likely, nothing. I have an incurable habit of minding my own business, even in the presence of overwhelming idiocy. I'm also acutely unreceptive of anyone minding my business for me. However, with that said, I commend you for speaking your mind.

That's exactly why I said something. This new-to-mechs vaper was looking to this shop for guidance and perspective, and what he received was probably the worst way he could have started off.

The guy in the store was. I agree with minding your business in general, but I see the situation described as being an exception to the rule.

Today we have to save them so that they can breed more idiots. This industry is going to be heavily regulated at some point whether we like it or not. It shouldn't make you scared of getting a mech, it should make you scared of those kind of people. I've gotten in the habit of asking people what their build registers at if they have a mech. It's a good way to know how far away to stand. They are the ones the quote in my signature is about.

Luckily the b&ms here are not like that. One is run by a fellow ecfer and hobbyist. He doesn't sell rebuildables to anyone until they research and learn battery safety. He will say no. The other b&m is run by my friend and he takes my word as gospel. Ive pretty much groomed him to be the same way. He won't recommend builds below .3 and only if he sees their batts and knows them.
