That's how mine was. It lost the positive *click* and just barely touching it would up the power. This was after dropping it many times.
To the original poster; I recall a video of a guy who had his buttons get stuck, and it turned out that the board they are attached to inside had twisted inside the tube body a little bit. He was able to pull the top off and gently twist the entire board a tiny bit to get the buttons loosened back up in their respective holes. I'm not sure if that sounds like something you would want to get into or not, but it's an option.
