Suitable Batteries For The LavaTube

I'm just wondering which batteries most of you guys n gals are using in the LavaTube... I use the AW IMR 18650s mostly, and don't really trust the "official" LT batteries... But it would be nice to have longer run times than the 1600mAH of the AWs give...

So: does the LavaTube's circuitry mean that it is safe to use un-protected Li-Ion batteries in there

I always use these the same as you TC in either the Lavatube or Provari . . . from Ledfire, using CPF8 for a small discount. Cracking service from them, free P&P if you spend over £30.00.

I believe that some LT owners have also used the Panasonic batteries as well, which have a higher mAH.

When I purchased my provari a couple of weeks ago they had just started offering AW 18650's at 2000 mAH (with protection circuits). I can't find a uk site that offers them yet but as perpetua has mentioned ledfire seems to have a good selection and decent prices so I'm going to keep an eye on it.

Would one of you be so kind as to measure the length(of battery) at which you start to see the bare metal when the end-cap is fastened?

Would also like to know how long the battery is before you cannot fasten the end-cap.
