Why couldn't you just wrap the mesh around the wick? I would think the install would be more of a pita than the wick.

You could if you had 3 hands...
Wick in a mesh coil has to cover every tiny little spot or it's nasty dry hit city.Maybe do it like we did with EkoWool. Split a drinking straw, put the EkoWool in the straw, slide that into the coil and pull out the straw.
