Hello,
My smok alien got bricked last night after it served me perfectly for 7 months. I would like to know if you can recommend me something similar like that just higher quality? I like vaporesso polar and innokin proton but not sure if they are good enough. :p
Hi and welcome,
Tell us a bit about how you vape and what topper/coil you use.
What nicotine level are you using?
How many watts ?
Do you plan to charge in the device or do you have an external charger?
Do you want a new "Kit" with mod and tank or just a new mod?
What is your budget?
Are you located close to a vape store?

Cheers
I

Anything will be better and more reliable than a SMOK.

Consider what options are important to you, like Izan posted. There's a lot of mods that should suit whatever is your style of vaping. Several are listed below:

Good Starter Setups for a Beginner Vaper

I prefer mods with the DNA chip, myself. JAC Vapor series B DNA75W

Hello,
I use 6 mg nicotine level. Used my SMOK Alien around 40 watts not sure if I used it correctly tho :D. Would like to charge in the device but it doesn't really matter and yeah would love to try out a whole new kit. My budget is 100 usd tops.
Vape stores are selling noname/low quality products next to me, I will order it online.

If you don't mind some weight on your vape, i'd suggest the Aegis legend from Geekvape, after it's 2nd update i'm proud to say it's probably THE longest lasting mod i've had since i started last year and i do about 40 watts too which makes it last about 2 days give or take (ofc it always depends on how much you vape but there's not a single day i had to change batteries)

Also bit of a heads up, you're always better off charging your cells externally with a dedicated charger, they'll last longer and it's just plain better for those batteries.

I haven't used the Polar mod but I think Vapresso's overall quality is pretty good. They are nice looking mods and have really fairly decent design and styling, I don't know that they are necessarily the most durable mods of all time, but I like them.

With that said, I have an Geekvape legend and I like it far more than any of my Vapresso mods, because it is designed to last. It's fairly heavy but has a nice handfeel, so that's not really burdensome.

I will say, ANY mod can fail, at any time. Although smok does have a bit of a reputation for QC issues, and for lack of durability, well, any mod can fail. Sometimes it's luck of the draw, sometimes it's user error, it can be a lot of things. There is also the Geekvape Ages, if you prefer a one battery mod, that is similarly durable.

If you have a removable battery mod, it's generally safest to charge using an external charger and will also cut down on wear and tear on a USB port, and with a dual battery mod, well, sometimes charging can be unbalanced which will put more strain on the batteries over time. There is also the convenience of being able to get more than one battery and to swap out batteries as you go, which can be nice.

You don't have to obtain all these things at once, and I think it's reasonable to get recommendations and whatnot. You can usually use any tank with any mod, provided they're both 510 attachments which are industry standard pretty much nowadays. So, you could say, get your mod, some batteries and a two bay charger and stay under 100 dollars US pretty much and get a decent set of equipment for that price, or you can buy as a kit, if one appeals to you and get the charger later.

Best of luck,

Anna

Thank you for your very detailed advisement. I just cancelled my vaporesso order, looking for a reliable online retailer to buy my Aegis Legend. I have a smok tfv12 tank, can I/ should I use it on my new mod or would you recommend me the kit? Better flavour maybe? I am going on holiday for 3 weeks so the dust/water resistance sounds a lot smarter choice in my opinion than anything else.

eightvape.com, and myfreedomsmokes.com are reliable sites. I have ordered a lot from both of them. You can use that tank on the Aegis.

I have 5 Aliens, use them only as backup devices, keep one in my carry on bag in case one of my two primary mods were to fail.

My two favorite mods are Geek Vape Legend and Vaporesso Revenger X.

The Legend is a beast, can't imagine what it would take in normal use to damage it. If you get the Legend be sure to update the firmware. I normally don't fly with my Legend, just too big. I need to fit 2 mods in my large shirt pocket so I fly with two Revenger Xs. Not a fan of the Geek Vape Aero Mesh Tank, this is the tank that will come with the Legend if you buy the kit.

The Revenger is also a great mod but 1) it's a huge fingerprint magnet and 2) it's like most other mods in that you can't beat it up like the Legend. It will save you a few $ over the cost of a Legend and as a kit it will come with the NRG tank. To be fair I only tried it with two different coils but just didn't have a good vape with it.

I have and sometimes use SMOK tanks, Big Baby Beast and Baby Beast but I think SMOK coils really suck for flavor and longevity so I use Vaporesso GT Core coils in my SMOK tanks. Their mesh coils are really great and last and last.

If flavor is your thing and you are looking for a new tank take a look at Vaporesso NRG, Aspire Revvo, great flavor and neither one leaks. The Uwell Valyrian also has great flavor but will sometimes leak.

If I could only have one setup It would be the Geek Vape Aegis Legend with the Vaporesso NRG tanks with Vaporesso GT Mesh coils.

This will be it I think buuuuut that Revenger X looks very badass to be honest. :D It is pretty hard to decide, hahaha.

Thank you everybody for the advices, you are very kind and helpful :)

I have a revenger and my biggest gripe with it is the battery door falls off when I drop it. Everything still works, but the battery door has flown away several times. LOL.

If you like your smok tank, no reason NOT to use it on your mod. I didn't care for the tank that comes as a kit with the Legend but I wasn't expecting to like it, I'm not a "cloud of vaper" kind of person. People do tend to have strong opinions about mesh, they either love it or hate it. You could certainly try it if you want, I mean, it is the TYPE of tank that would suit you, I just don't know how much you will enjoy the mesh for flavor, people tend to love them or hate them.

If you are going on a trip, I might recommend bringing the tank you have for now, if you are comfortable with it and enjoy it. I really kind of hate getting to know new to me type of gear as I am travelling, like I could see myself liking a mesh coil but maybe needing a while to adjust to it and make it work or whatever.

But really, just do what makes sense to you. If you are in the mood to try a new tank and that one looks interesting there' s no EMERGENCY reason not to, honestly.

I hate Gearbest. But I'd say they were reliable in their TOS which included "make your address correct" which is USUALLY not a problem for me but I was using paypal for like the first time in ever (so it seemed) and was not paying attention to the fact that, my address was the one from before the last time I moved. Gearbust really means it when they say "if your address is incorrect, well no mods for you." I get volume and not wanting to deal with that stuff but OH, since every other vendor I used was that day was completely understanding and some did not even charge me shipping twice, well, I was like, "You can have my money, it's in your TOS," and I didn't fight it since it was well within their rights to do so.

I mean, so I was like, "You can have my mod, that's fine, and my money but you will get none of my business EVER," although I was mostly annoyed to get my own address wrong but like, these things happen APPARENTLY since every other vendor was like, "Don't even worry about it."

So, provided your address is correct (and I'm sure it is) well, you should get your stuff. I mean, my old house's occupants I knew them so I visited and they were like, "sorry we already sent it back" and I 100% believe them etc.

I still hate Gearbest though, and I have learned to purchase with care, and to read TOS because although I find them boring they are useful and I imagine you will find your favorite vendors that just like, seem to have what you like and etc. Who knows, Gearbest may wind up one of them, they have decent selection and good prices and everything else.

So you'll probably be fine.

Another peeve of mine is the much vaunted buyer protection on Ali Express. Ain't worth s**t!!!! Had a seller advertise a product as being 'compatible with', turns out it wasn't, opened a dispute but AE expected me to send it back at my expense!!! In Europe / USA they wouldn't get away with it. Their contact centre staff are also a complete waste of time, drones, you can waste hours with them, trotting out phrases like "I'm here to help", "I understand" and "Let me try and resolve this for you", all customer feel-good crap but they aren't able to DO anything, they have no power over anything and can't even refer you to supervisors, as much use as an ash-tray on a motorbike.

I still at times use AE but ONLY where buying from the manufacturer stores like Wotofo etc and only things that are fairly simple and not likely to have a warranty or misleading product description. I also now only EVER pay them with a European credit card, first hint of a problem and I'd file a cash back with the CC company and leave AE to try and convince the CC company, I wouldn't give AE the time of day otherwise.
