I've had that happen on a couple of Vivi Nova heads on a Lavatube. The technology is similar, so this may apply to you.

Of course, if you're measuring a brand-new, dry Stardust, you're not measuring its resistance when it's wet and functioning properly. If you're measuring a wet, veteran Stardust and getting such a high reading, it means the coil is corroding and will die soon. I watched one Vivi Nova 2.4 ohm head gradually rise from 2.6 ohms when it was new and wet to 6.5 ohms. After the very next refill, I got a reading of 9.9 ohms (broken circuit) and zero vapor. I rebuilt the head and then it worked as good as new. Hopefully you have a rebuildable version of a Stardust.
