Removing compression band?

Hi all! I just received a smooth locking ring to replace the knurled one for my ELA V2. (Thanks David for finding it). Am wondering what is the best way to safely remove the band from the knurled one and then place it in the smooth one?

I have too much respect for my gear than to break out the pliers and proceed without sound advice (I'm also not that handy with tools).

VD hooked me up on the ELA V2 thread. (As he says "easy peezy"). Compress ring at one end with a finger nail (or teeny screw driver), tilt and it comes out.

speaking of compression bands, is there more of them coming out? i need some for V1 and V2 ELA. As a side note, did i read somewhere that there was some type of conversion ring that works on V1 that is the same as the V2 rings? if so, i would love to get my hands on one of them to replace my existing V1 ring.
