Question on Passing through Kuala Lumpur Airport.

I am traveling to the US in 2 weeks, and Kuala Lumpur Airport in Malaysia is one of my lay overs. I know Malaysia has a ban on nicotine containing e-liquid, but I won't be entering the country, or going through customs. Has anyone had any experience going through airport security there. I'll be going through Hong Kong Airport to and have confirmation that as long as I don't leave the Airport I'll be fine.
