I need help on a build. I have a plume veil setting on a panzer and just a regular 18650 battery. (Not sure on battery name just says icr 18650 2200mah 3.7v ) all I have is 24g kanthal. I want a good safe build with nice vapor production.

Hey mate -- not that many are going to see this because it's part of another thread, but some will due to the bump. A few things:

1. No one is going to be comfortable with you using an ICR battery. You want IMR, as they are less likely to eventually require reconstructive surgery.

2. Check out the below links, which will give you a rundown on getting started on coiling for your setup:

Hello and welcome to the forum panzerplume. Glad to have you here!:)

As drunkenbatman said you have the wrong type of batteries for vaping. 24 gauge wire is not a great place to start either. 28 gauge would be better until you get some experience under your belt. Put your mech mod and Plume Veil in a drawer for now. There are some basics you need to understand (and tools you need to have) if you are going to vape safely with a mech mod and rebuildable.

I highly recommend you spend some time with Baditude (one of our resident battery experts) and visit his blogs. You are now 100% in control of your own safety (and others around you). Make sure you purchase an ohm reader and a voltmeter or DMM so you can measure your builds, check for shorts and measure the remaining charge on your batteries.

Baditudes Blogs. The blogs regarding mods and rebuildables are listed below:

BATTERIES

9. Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected ICR?
* Another essential read to understand which batteries are safe to use in mechanical and regulated mods. Includes a frequently updated list of recommended safe-chemistry, high-drain batteries with their specifications.

17. Purple Efest Batteries Not As Advertised
* A cautionary blog that reveals that the purple Efest batteries may not have the specifications advertised. Also includes a commentary on "continuous discharge ratings" vs "pulse discharge ratings" of battery specs.

OHM'S LAW

14. Ohm's Law for Dummies (Vapers)
* My attempt at explaining Ohm's Law in layman terms and how it relates to vaping.

16. Explain it to the Dumb Noob: Ohm's Law Calculations
* As simple as it is to use, some people have a tough time grasping the concept. Warning: Includes graphic photos of mod explosions.

MECHANICAL MODS & REBUILDABLES

7. Information Resources for Your First RBA
* An essential read and reference guide for someone new to rebuilding coils. Includes a multitude of useful links on battery safety, mod safety, coil meters, coil building, and the differences in the three types of RBA's.

15. Inexpensive Mechanical Mod and RDA Setup
* A response to the frequently asked question on how to get into rebuildable atomizers with a mechanical mod inexpensively. Includes a list of commonly used tools and supplies for rebuilding and where to find them.

BATTERIES - WHERE TO BUY

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* RTD Vapor
* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics

After u acquire decent set of IMR batts an OHM reader and a charger for said batts. Nicor digi is my favorite btw. Using 24g 4 wraps on 3.5 coil jig. 100% cotton wick comes out to .20 ohms. Been running this on my plume veil and Dimitri box and love love love it. As they said up top be safe and learn what u r doing first. Maybe a regulated device until u get consistency.

Nice job sweaty, send him out of the gate with a .2 ohm build. Perfect. Geez.
Panzerplume, please ignore that last post for now. Get some Samsung 25r batteries. Theyre 20 amp continuous, affordable and readily available. Buy from a vendor like Illumn or another quality battery vendor. Buy an ohm meter and some .28ga kanthal wire. Practice building perfect coils before diving into the deep subohm stuff. Maybe 9 wraps on a 3/32 bit. That should put you around 1.2 ohms. Do that twice and you will be around .6 ohms. Its a safer way to go about learning to build.
Follow those links Susan S provided. Learn all you can.

Not a lot of beginner info in the last few posts. OP, the posts above from Batman, Susan and Asbestos have you covered. Learn, learn, learn...then get some high-quality batteries, a decent ohm reader, and start practicing.

Sweaty, where did you get these mythical "40 amp" batteries you speak of? Last I checked 30 amp is as high as anyone makes. Don't use or trust pulse ratings, they mean NOTHING. Every time someone says they have the purple efest "35 amp" battery, I want to hurl.
