Dunno who said it, but somethign along the lines of go so far right or go so far left, you eventually circle around to the same point. I can't see much difference between Hitler and Stalin, although one was "left" the other "right". Both authoritarian dictatorships who ruled (and murdered) with an iron fist. It'd suck to be ruled by either!

Left and right are only economic indicators, another dimension is social - authoritarian/libertarian. You can be right wing and libertarian/anarchic, you can be left wing and authoritarian, etc.
The Political Compass

^^^^ Take the test, you might learn something about where you stand.

Economic Left/Right: -8.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.21

Same as usual. Guess I'm still a socialist :)

Well I voted for Bush and regretted it and for that choice I apologize..

I also this round voted for Obama and felt for the first time I voted FOR someone instead of for the lesser of the two evils. Also since he hasnt even been in office for 100 days much less a year or two, I will give him time and consideration and in 4 years when its time to vote again for President I will then base my choice on who I think would do the best for the country in which I am a citizen of..

I do tend to find myself more democrat than republican but I am listed as an independant.. Who knows Obama may do such a great job I may finally change to democrat. Or I may do that anyway just due to the silly games the republicans are currently playing in congress..

Its threads and articles such as this one that is pushing me towards the democrat side everyday.. I should thank you in advance for helping me along further in my decision making...

the best option is to stay independent... in the long haul both parties suck.. and neither one has YOUR best interests at heart

Being a strong supporter of the "radical" national party Jobbik, it is funny to see, that my political compass is that of an unauthoritarian (and unlibertarian), moderate leftist.

Mind you, Hungary is a country where the world is turned upside down:
- the left-wing and liberals privatise everything, prefer multinational companies, and had protesters beaten, whilst
- the right wing wants to keep as much as possible for the nation, and wants to keep social security as well.

They are the parties who changed views here, not the voters. Only a few voters have not realized this, yet, and keep clogged to their long-time preferred party, even if that has totally changed its views...
