Ok, so I started out a couple of weeks ago, ordering a VV eGo-T starter kit. I liked it. It was a nice simple introduction to vaping. It did it's job. It got me addicted;) It also gave me 2 of everything so my wife could try it out too. Unfortunately the flavor with the eGo-T was a little lacking. So I ordered a couple LR510 attys and a couple of LR306's with a cannon drip tip, since I was told dripping would give really good flavor.

The good news:

My new attys and drip tips arrived yesterday & were waiting for me when I got home from work.

The bad news:

When I went to go try out my new stuff, I started looking for my eGo batteries, and couldn't find them. After a little looking around, I found them...in my dog's bed:glare: We think my wife left hers on the arm of the couch with some double-flavor strawberry in it, and our dog found it (she has a habbit of eating things that she shouldn't, like flavored chapstick). Apparently after she found my wife's, she must've gone looking for more and found mine too (I always keep mine on the table near my computer). She was just trying to get into the tank, but in the process she broke both batteries by pulling the connector (where the button is) off of the battery housing. I probably could've put them back together, since none of the wiring was damaged, but I can't find the buttons anywhere...I'm assuming the little pieces are forever lost in the carpet. Needless to say, I didn't get to test out my new equipment or give dripping a try last night:(.

Now for the upgrade question:

I've settled on getting a simple, heavy duty mod. I'm trying to keep it under $100 dollars for the mod, the batteries, the charger (everything to get me vaping again). I'm only looking for one mod, for now. It was more of a novelty for my wife, since she never smoked before and just like the flavor as an alternative to munching on candy. I want to find a good quality, simple mod for me 1st. We'll get her one later if she likes mine. If she doesn't we'll know to look for something different for her later.

Doing my research and watching many many reviews online, I think I've narrowed it down to either a Silver Bullet or a Bombshell. My only question is: besides the different button (and the $20 difference in price), are there any differences between these 2 mods? They both look very nice, and both seem to have the same functionality. What's the difference between the two? I've looked at many pictures in many many threads here on ECF, and spent a bit (maybe too much) time at vapeporn. I see pictures of the Silver Bullet in many many users photos of their collections, but I almost never see pictures of the bombshell.

Would one of these be a good (second) first-step for me to get as a PV? Are there any others I should take a look at that I may have overlooked?

Don't have any advice on the mods- I'm drooling over an infinity pro at the moment but it's $100 plus batts, charger- but I'm glad your furbaby didn't get the juice! I am always paranoid about this with mine too. They both like to chew on things that they shouldn't. Especially my male. He likes expensive chew toys- cell phones, remotes, glasses...

Oh, she got to the juice. It's okay though, since I vape juice with no nicotine in it. I'm not worried about it doing any harm.

You might want to look at this
The Bolt - Black
Not the build quality of the SB, but it's only half the price.
That looks promising. The only issue I have with it, is that it takes 18500s instead of 18650s. I see a lot more mods that use the 18650s than 18500s.

I also looked at the Maxi Roughstack V2, since it has the "easily" replaceable switch, in case anything happens to it. My only turn-off there, is the button placement. I want to give tanks a try at some point (possibly even an Odysseus) and would need an extension for them to clear the button.

If only I had access to a machine shop that could custom-cut me a piece of aluminum or stainless steel for my personal needs...

The Silver Bullet has been around a long time. It's a good sturdy mod and one that people never seem to have any trouble with.

You could check out what the members have to say about the SB here.
Mods Discussion

Whichever mod you decide one, pick one that uses 18650 batteries. Buy a couple of AW IMR 18650 1300 mah batteries and a good multi channel battery charger from Super T manufacturing. I use the TrustFire 4 channel model. The batteries will last you a very long time, probably a year or more.

Thanks for the links TJ. I looked on MadVapes many times and never found that section. I don't know why but I always saw the "Custom Mods" and assumed that was something you personalized, instead of pre-build mods. I always just passed that part of the menu by and never clicked on it.

I decided to go with the Maxi Roughstack. It looks nice and durable and has the added bonus of an easily replaceable switch (in case my dog gets a hold of it)...plus it accepts the 18650 battery without having to buy the extender that The Bold needs. It also has the flexability to have different voltages with stacked 3V batteries. It much more affordable, and I think it'll be a good step-up from my eGo.

This is my first time ordering from MadVapes, but I have a good feeling about them considering I've already been notified of it being shipped (less than 30 minutes after placing the order). I Might even get it this weekend, which will be nice since I currently don't have a PV to vape with.

The Maxi Roughstack is a heavy duty sturdy mod. It, too, will last forever. The only thing I don't like about the Maxi is the button on top. You will have to use an extender to use a carto tank. I did hear one person say that even with the extender, the button was not as accessible as they would have liked.

MadVapes is a very good vendor. I have never had any problems with them and the shipping is fast.

Yah, I took that into consideration. I figure if I want to try a tank, I'll just get one of those crazy goose-neck extenders that I've seen. They look kinda crazy and fun anyway. Especially with the setup I'm getting. I went for the candy-apple red roughstack, and I have an amber ming tip from cherryvapes. If i get a long black goose-neck, it'll look like I lit the fuse on a stick of dynamite.

Well, you certainly can't go wrong if you want a sturdy PV.

When I ordered my custom Reos, I had about a 2 month wait, and I ordered the Maxi RoughStack to use until the Reos arrived. I was very happy with it and Carto Tanks were not invented at that time. You will need the extender if you want to use the CE type of cartos. The button nut, or whatever it's called (the hexagon nut below the button), got in the way with them.

I would suggest you at least buy a 900 mah ego battery so you can use that to go out with, believe me bro, you won't want to pull out that baton while your in a bar, and with a LR 306 atty, you will get plumes of vapor, and won't look like your doing bonghits at the bar with that huge mod..lol.

I would suggest as a mod, the infinity pro from notcigs.com. It's slender much slimmmer then the SB, and it has an adjustable wheel so you can ramp up or lower the voltage depending on your juice and taste.

Juices taste different at different voltages, so having the infinity pro or buzz pro (notcigs.com) you just won't get a better built u.s made mod bro.

I have the infinity pro, and it's truly amazing.
But i also use my ego 900 mah bat with a bridgeless 1.5 ohm atomizer and drip tip when i go out to parties and whatnot.

I suggest you go on youtube and check out grimmgreen on mods,

here's some links too on phee whol loves his ego with LR306 atomizer..and he's a mod guy, so you 'll understand why you want both.

check out the links here:
1.) eGo & LR 306 - YouTube (ego w/lr 306)
2.) grimmgreen buzz pro - YouTube (buzz pro)
3.)A PBusardo Review - Infinity Pro VV Mod from NotCigs - YouTube (infinity pro)

Yes!!!

Tidegirl....great choice!
I've had my Infinity Pro now about 3 months....it's so AWESOME! Love changing voltage with the ease of my thumb twitching to right or left..heheh....it twitches cause i like it too! lol.

Anyway, you have to ..i mean Have to get the Drip shield from Empiremods.com if you do it..or any other mod...will keep juice from dripping all over the mod or your fingers.....the drip shield will even allow you to overfill your atomizer without it leaking....

Also get the bridgeless LR atomizers from there.....they perform just like a 306....and the drip shield works excellent with the 306 and 306 drip tip by the way.

You have to get yourself one!!

Just wanted to mention that on any SS tube mod, if you put a little Noalox on the male threads with a qtip, and screw/unscrew it a few times, you will not have any trouble with the threads getting stuck.

You can buy Noalox at Home Depot in the electrical section, 4 oz for about 3.00 if I remember right. Anyway, 4 oz will last you many lifetimes.

Oh, I know, and I do. I made sure when I first ordered my start-up kit and juice that I put the bottles clear out of reach of any dogs (not so much for the dog's health as for my not wanting all my juice in my dog's belly, since I vape only zero-nic juice). I also keep (kept) my PV on my table. Unfortunately, my dog is a little to smart for her own good. Once she got a whiff of my wife's double-flavored strawberry and decided it tasted yummy, she must've gone looking for more, saw mine on the table and hopped up there to get more. She's a mischievous little so-and-so. Again, no harm done to the dog, since there's no nicotine...just dead eGo's.
