Hey You All,
Been vaping now almost 3 months and loving it. I am a pina colada nut and am trying to find a really good recipe for pina colada. When I have ordered the premixed pina colada I liked the 50/50 pg/vg mix with no nicotine. Really enjoy tinkering with making the juice myself, just can't get it quite right. what I have made is vapeable, yet not quite as smooth as the juices I have purchased. If anyone has a favorite place for pina colada flavoring would also be great, thanks all!

Vape On,

I know taste is subjective but I really disliked Lorann's Pina Colada:( I found that one to be very chemically tasting. Their Butterscotch though is to die for!!

I've tried Vapor REnu's Coconut and Banana ones and loved them but I've never tried their Pineapple. So I don't know how the 3 woulkd be together:)

If I wanted to make Pina Colada from scratch, I'd use FlavourArt flavorings. Small bottles are available from: Pure Vapes: Home

3mL bottles for $1.50 each
Pineapple
Coconut
Cream (Whipped)
Custard

As a starting point for testing:
1.5 mL VG
1.5 mL PG
5 drops Pineapple
5 drops Coconut
2 drops Cream

After at least 24 hrs of aging, check the overall flavor intensity and the balance between Pineapple and Coconut. Judge the amount of creaminess from the Cream. Compare its taste to that of the best pre-mixed juice and ask yourself, how is my mix different?

Adjust the recipe slightly and make another batch, and so on.

Use a touch of the Custard in later batches (for richness), after you get closer to your goal. You may also want to add sweetener at some point; I recommend EZ-Sweetz sucralose (Results for Request a FREE Sample) or NOW Stevia Glycerite (health food store).

After your recipe is perfected: take all those test batch bottles and empty them into a large bottle. Let it set for a week, then taste the juice and figure out what it needs. Cautiously add more flavoring, let it set again, taste again. Repeat as necessary until it's fixed.

 Ay caRUMba!

I've been on a cocktail kick lately:

Three weeks ago I made Tequila Sunrise with Patron tequila.
I've been using rum for the past 2 weeks, making Mojito recipes!
On Monday I made 5 bottles of Tom Collins juice which used real gin.
Today I made WomanOfHeart's Brandy Alexandra recipe, but added French brandy.

And now-- I forget the rum for a Pina Colada mix?? Gadzooks!

Switched, senility is closing in...

That, or I been vapin too much booze!

MaxUT or Switched, question on the recipe, if I am counting drops on my PG/VG I have heard people talk of 30 drops of PG equals a ml and 20 drops of VG equals a ml. Any thoughts? Thanks everyone.

Varying viscosities will affect the drop size, that is a given. When it comes to drops the only time it really affects your own liquids, is when you use someone else quantities/ratios. That is why my recipes are in %. I use a std 22 drops/ml for all my recipes. It is not accurate for someone else perse, but it is my drops. I hope that makes sense. In larger quantties, I use syringes for accurate measurements.

It varies of course with the dropper and the liquid, but my usual medicine droppers deliver ~30 drops per mL when used with PG-based flavoring. I don't measure anything but flavoring in drops, and then only for the smallest test batches or most-potent flavorings, such as mint.

Here's what I've been using:

1 ML Straight Tip Plastic Dropper

These are handy for measuring small quantities. I use a different one for each flavoring during a mixing session then clean them all afterward. The graduation markings are durable, having lasted more than 9 months so far.

Larger quantities of PG or VG are measured using a 5mL or 30mL syringe, or a 50mL graduated cylinder.

Liv2Ski - Yes, I do use pipettes. For mixes which call for alcohol or are intended for dripping, I draw the straight VG with a 3mL pipette.

For tobacco and fruit flavored recipes, I make up a stock supply of diluted VG beforehand, both plain and nicotine types. I label the nic VG with the new nic value (48mg becomes 38.4mg, 100mg becomes 80mg). It draws well with a syringe and 14-gage needle and there's no delay in waiting for the VG to drain down the inside of the pipette.

Thanks Switched and MaxUT for your help on your methods and input on measuring and counting drops. Worked on your recipe MaxUT this morning, couldn't resist and had a taste tonight, pretty smooth. Still trying to figure out what it needs. Will the sweetner bring out more of the flavors. I have some Stevia, any thoughts on how many drops? Thanks again! So appreciate the great help and have a Merry Christmas everyone!

The sweetener may enhance the coconut but reduce the tanginess of the pineapple somewhat. Only way to know is try it and see.

For the Stevia: if it's very concentrated, 1 drop will make a noticeable difference in 3mL of juice. Of course, sense of taste varies from person to person; I'm not very sensitive to sweet tastes myself, and what tastes sweet to me may be excessive to someone else.

Oh, and about that missing Rum:
My cocktail recipes are VG-based and I use liquor to thin the VG, 10-20% dilution depending on how thin the juice should be. The liquor doesn't add enough taste by itself, so flavoring is required. PA Jamican Rum isn't very strong so I would recommend about 15%, almost 0.5mL for a 3mL batch.

Hope this helps, and Merry Christmas!
